David Wasserman predicts that the Supreme Courts surprise ruling against Alabamas congressional map could reverberate to Louisiana, South Carolina and Georgia, forcing creation of between two to four new Black majority districts and possibly netting Democrats two to four seats in the House of Representatives.

(1,654 posts)It will help us cancel out North Carolina's recently okayed gerrymander, but more importantly, give black voters the representation they deserve.
In the majority were Jackson, Kagan, and Sotomayor (of course), along with Kavanaugh and Roberts (surprisingly).
It seems like Barrett, Kavanaugh, and Roberts are the sort of halfway reasonable conservatives (in the mold of Anthony Kennedy), while Alito, Gorsuch and Thomas are right-wing loonies. Every now and then we get something good from them.

Roberts and Kavanaugh were the surprise votes. Roberts leans to the right on most things, especially business issues, but I will say he seems not to like a totally stacked deck. Maybe because it would be bad for the legal profession.
