Former president Donald Trumps chief of staff, Mark Meadows, removed more than a thousand pages of classified documents from the White House late at night on the final evening of Trumps presidency, Murray Waas reports.
A former top aide to Meadows has told investigators that they witnessed Meadows removing the records.
Meadows removed the records from the White House on the orders of Donald Trump, and occurred despite advice from White House attorneys that making public the records would circumvent the long established and official procedures in place for declassifying them.

The paper documents are, unfortunately, not as easy to secure as information on a controlled server.

Her former lawyer may be convicted of suborning perjury and then, after slammer time, disbarred. All for a guy whod never give a shit about them.
I will be joyous.

(111,079 posts)How could he declassify a document if he could not see it?
How would he know what he was declassifying?
It defies reality.

(21,306 posts)the only way for Trump to claim that he declassified all of the stolen documents would be for him to testify to that in court and no way in hell is Trump going to take the stand.

(21,432 posts)He cooperated with Trump on everything while in office, but turned over data when subpoenaed, and then stopped cooperating and refused to testify. But now, supposedly, he flipped on testifying against Trump.
Meadows doesn't know which side of the fence to be on.
Poor Cassidy. Between Meadows and Trump, she had a heckuva lesson on government at a young age.

Trump gave him a million bucks after he left (probably as hush money)
He wrote a book that brought in more money.
Now that the feds are at his door - he gives up Trump, saves his behind, and keeps the money/connections.

The article doesn't say how Meadows managed to remove thousands of classified documents though, especially if these are the originals. Wouldn't they have to be signed out, and back in, or only looked at in a SCIF?

(86,541 posts)That his limited immunity is simply to reduce his very long sentence of which he will certainly serve some. He's gonna do some time no matter what. Maybe his immunity is going to keep him from being hung by the neck until dead.

(86,541 posts)I do not know the details, I watched some news and I think I heard it there... that he had limited immunity. Which I thought was interesting and maybe that's what has taken a lot of time is working that out to get his gold mine of evidence. He's a slimy pos and it was probably like wrestling some grizzly old, leather skinned varmint hauled in from some dusty knoll in the desert working out the deal.
Either way, his mishandling and probable destruction of classified materials (in the fireplace), he's burnt, soggy toast on a stick. I don't think he's going to get out fo doing some time. He's one of the top conspirators. He never would have taken the job if he wasn't. It's over for him.
JMHO, of course.
