Re this new indictment of Trump: BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR

especially in South Florida.

IT IS GOING TO BE DAMN HARD TO GET A CONVICTION OF TRUMP IF THIS CASE IS TRIED IN SOUTH FLORIDA.

https://themessenger.com/politics/trump-south-florida-miami-doj-jury-challenge

. . .former federal prosecutors and seasoned defense attorneys have this blunt advice: consider trying Trump elsewhere. South Florida, they say, is a hard place to get federal convictions against political figures and celebrities.

“I would absolutely try this case in Washington D.C.,” said Richard Gregorie, a former federal prosecutor in Miami who noted that Trump has far more support in South Florida than in the nation’s liberal capital city.

“People who operate in D.C. have no idea what it’s like down here. Prosecuting politicians is hard here,” he added. “The people are just suspicious of government all over South Florida.”

Much more at the above link. . .

Garland, Smith and the DOJ had damn well better know what they are doing and what they are up against. All normal rules and niceties are going to be trashed re this case.

“Forget documents, if Trump shot someone on Calle Ocho, a Miami jury would find him not guilty,” said David Oscar Markus, a top criminal defense attorney who successfully defended former Florida Democratic gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum in his corruption trial May 4.

These types of people are always like this.

If Trump is found guilty, then they will immediately move to "well, he'll never spend a day in jail!" etc.

Just have faith that the people that do this haven't exactly had the best track record when it comes to their predictions. They didn't think Trump would lose the E. Jean Carroll case, they didn't Bragg would indict, they didn't think the DOJ would indict, they still don't think Trump will be indicted in GA, etc.

They're pretty much batting damn near .000

of the crimes were committed. I trust Jack Smith to make the right call. If Smith brings the case at the wrong venue a Trump appeal will throw out the charges, the prosecution will be over.

Also, holding the trial in Florida should save time as I suspect that Smith is working to hold a trial before the election.

Article III, Section 2:

The trial of all crimes, except in cases of impeachment, shall be by jury; and such trial shall be held in the state where the said crimes shall have been committed; but when not committed within any state, the trial shall be at such place or places as the Congress may by law have directed.

The mishandling of data happened in Florida. Obstruction happened in Florida. The trial has to happen in Florida.

And there's a Grand Jury there too, so Donald is probably going to have another trial or two to look forward to.

The "MAGA people will get on the Jury" argument has been circulating for years at this point. Name a case where it had an impact.

and it has to be done. Hoick up any sagging big-citizen pants.

Btw, whether some "wished" for it is as irrelevant as the prayers of those trying to protect their leader -- and not somehow cosmically causative.

I want to celebrate, too, but I am disappointed that it doesn't seem to have any espionage charges. Maybe it does. Also, I wanted it to happen in DC.

What is to stop DeSantis from pardoning him? What if a Trumper judge gets picked?

MT is saying he could get 10 to 20 years. Probably sentenced to MAL. I wish I could jump up and down over this.

Well, I trust Jack and Merrick. I think that they have enough stuff to get him, and all he can do is jury nullification.

The majority of the American people are HAPPY right now. It's a day that Trump never thought would happen. Gosh, I hate to say it, but if I were him, I'd run. Constitutionally speaking, this weak-minded defendant isn't suited for prison. He has the means to go; time to flee, Donald!

I'm concerned about when this goes to trial. Fast track this thing, and get it to trial before he gets the GOP nomination, otherwise, it's pointless. The media already wants to treat him as if he's more privileged than the rest of us because he's a former president and because he's now a candidate for president again. Ironic, isn't it, that getting elected President is his ticket out of these crimes?
