There's still a grand jury in DC looking into January 6 crimes.
All those stories that came out in the past couple of days about Steve Bannon being subpoenaed, Newt Gingrich testifying, and Mark Meadows potentially cutting a deal to spill the beans -- that stuff is not related to the classified documents. That's a completely separate ongoing investigation which may yet still bear even more indictments.
Well, I sure hope the GOP enjoys having Trump as their nominee for president! LOL.

(22,669 posts)Has there ever been a criminal with so many charges against them that the fact that he's such an enormous criminal allow him to delay his justice?
Please, to the judges out there pondering such a question. He fucking needs to be put behind bars. It's not the justice system's fault he keeps breaking more laws! The sooner he's behind bars, the sooner it all ends!!!

(7,895 posts)they somehow combine their cases or waive jurisdiction.
I don't think that they will do that.
Then again, who really knows what is provided for under the espionage act?
When Georgia indicts him I suspect he'll have to have another team of lawyers acting in that case to answer that prosecution.
He did all of this illegal activity more or less during the same time frame. I don't see why he should not answer it in parallel prosecutions. Serves him and his coterie of traitors and clowns right.
...OR he could just try and settle the whole thing. Although is niece said it isn't in his nature to cop a plea as he cannot conceive of a situation where he's not in control of the outcome.

(2,793 posts)nightmare. I've been saying for many years that the whole country has been going through PTSD since *rump came down that escalator. Worse for those of us who fought so hard to keep him from claiming the presidency. May whatever may come from this day forward be the start of recovery for us and our nation, and especially for the LGBTQ+, our sisters, and the many minorities who have suffered under *rump and the magats rule. May we finally reclaim being a nation of strong democracy instead of being listed as one that is one on the downhill slide. May the Nazi's and Xtianists go back under the rocks that *rump gave them approval to climb out from under. Actually, I sincerely wish they'd all find countries where their brand of "freedom" is appreciated and leave everyone else in the world alone, but they can't do that. So I just wish they'd disappear in their tears.
This has been a good day for most of us. May tomorrow be an even better day!

(4,234 posts)because I really thought this would go the route of some minor pleas to misdemeanors at most. I am happy to be proven wrong and hope they have really strong prosecutors to try the case. If it goes to trial. It is entirely possible the Orange Ruski and his team will try to strike as many charges as possible and settle for something, or try to, on the courthouse steps so to speak. It would be a typical defense strategy but in this case you have a maniac running the strategy.
