Romney Had No Votes in Many Urban Precincts

http://politicalwire.com/archives/2012/11/12/romney_had_no_votes_in_many_urban_precincts.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+PoliticalWire+%28Political+Wire%29

CBS News reports "it is now becoming clear just how lopsided President Obama's victory was in some cities: in dozens of urban precincts, Mitt Romney earned literally zero votes."

"The Phildadelphia Inquirer reported today that, in 59 precincts in inner-city Philadelphia, the GOP nominee received not a single vote. And according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, nine precincts in Cleveland returned zero Romney votes."

"At first blush, it seems almost impossible: how, even in some of the most heavily Democratic strongholds in the country, could a major party's presidential candidate fail to earn even one vote?"

VOTER FRAUD!!!!!!! They just refuse to believe that other people simply don't believe they do. Total denial. I am sure you can go to very rural places in the South where Obama didn't get one single vote (which I DO believe) too, but that is DIFFERENT. THEY have GOD on their side and are RIGHT!!!!!!

"There are places where Obama won less than 10 percent of the vote. In King County, Texas, he won exactly five votes to Romney’s 135. But nowhere was Obama’s loss among white voters as stark as Romney’s loss among urban blacks."

And the outcome is not at all out of step with recent history - in 2008, 57 divisions in Philadelphia returned zero votes for then-GOP nominee, Arizona Sen. John McCain. And in 2004, a more Republican-friendly election year, five Philadelphia divisions shut out former President George W. Bush entirely.

P.S. notice the continued "universalization" of whites here? They should ask this -

"At first blush, it seems almost impossible: how, even in some of the most heavily Republican Democrat strongholds in the country, could a major party's presidential candidate fail to earn even one vote?"

don't see how anybody of color could vote for a Party that has a lot of white supremacists in it. I've listen to people that do but still can't understand their logic. There should have been a Poll question to minorities asking if they thought the GOP was racist but it has never been asked. I think Pollsters are scared to ask it. The GOP might find out a lot of their problems with getting those votes. Now I'm not claiming everyone in the GOP is racist, but I do think they attract a lot of those groups with their message. I also think this is a minority but still a significant group that bullies the moderates.

a newspaper tries to find Republicans in inner-city Philadelphia:

Although voter registration lists, which often contain outdated information, show 12 Republicans live in the ward's third division, The Inquirer was unable to find any of them by calling or visiting their homes.

Four of the registered Republicans no longer lived there; four others didn't answer their doors. City Board of Elections registration data say a registered Republican used to live at 25th and York Streets, but none of the neighbors across the street Friday knew him. Cathy Santos, 56, founder of the National Alliance of Women Veterans, had one theory: "We ran him out of town!" she said and laughed.

James Norris, 19, who lives down the street, is listed as a Republican in city data. But he said he's a Democrat and voted for Obama because he thinks the president will help the middle class.

A few blocks away, Eric Sapp, a 42-year-old chef, looked skeptical when told that city data had him listed as a registered Republican. "I got to check on that," said Sapp, who voted for Obama.

In 2000 it turned out most of the shenanigans happened in the "red" counties. Things like more votes than voters.

In all likelihood they stuffed the ballot boxes in red areas because dems were looking at the blue areas.

I'm hearing that some of what remains of the GOP are trying to get a head start on 2014 & 2016. There's a lot of blame gaming also, but it's hopeful to see the sane within their party are making an effort to win future elections in a straight-foward manner, instead of the looney 'end of America,' 'we are done as a country' chatter of recent.

And evidence of how poorly Republicans are doing with African Americans.

If you look at a Philadelphia ward map (below), you'll see that the wards are pretty cut and dry. Each voting precinct has approximately 1,000 registered voters. Philadelphia is fairly densely populated, so just one neighborhood can have several precincts. There isn't much heterogeneity within districts.

For a walloping 0.43% of the vote compared to 452 (98.26%) for Obama.

Jill Stein of the Libertarian Party received double Romney's vote total (4).

Obama actually did slightly worse in the ward overall, compared to 2008 (96.64% in 2008 vs. 96.02% in 2012). However, this was due to higher turnout for the Greens and Libertarians, as Republican votes were also down (McCain 2.72%, Romney 2.48%).
