Kerry to the defense department?

Rachael Maddow just reported John Kerry is going to the defense department and Susan rice to the state department. Wouldn't it be better for Kerry to stay in the senate?

8. He could actually make a good Secretary of Defense

He is far less hawkish than most people who have held that position, while he may not be as much as a dove as I would like to see in that role he is definitely better than the militaristic assholes we have had in there in the past. His Senate safe is pretty safe to remain in Dem hands as well, of course after the Scott Brown debacle we can't take anything fo granted but as long as they recruit a decent candidate it shouldn't be too difficult to hold on to that seat.
