For decades you have been bleating that gun manufacturers and sellers should be held totally blameless when their product is used to shoot people, exactly as it was designed to do. Instead, only the individual who uses the product is to be prosecuted.
But suddenly you have decided that it's the manufacturers and distributors of abortion pills who are to be held criminally liable, while the people who use the product as it was designed are not to be charged, because that might cost you even more votes than your already hugely unpopular attack on reproductive self-determination.
It's almost as if your every policy has fuck-all to do with the sanctity of life, and everything to do with exercising control over women's bodies in a completely transactional attempt to garner votes from an increasingly unhinged and wildly politicized group of right-wing "Christians".
Tell me I'm wrong, assholes.

(19,756 posts)If the Repugs are seriously pushing for criminalization of abortion pill manufacturers and think that won't cost them votes, they've definitely lost their tiny minds. What part of "Most Americans want abortion to be legal" do those peabrains not understand? Oh, that's right: they understand it. They just don't care, and they want to shove their unfair, cruel, and life-threatening abortion bans down the throats of all Americans, especially those of us who are opposed to such bans.

(11,869 posts)Their big-monied backers want the Rs to jump at any opportunity to create conflict by establishing an ongoing war on just about everything. Of course, if you have a war on everything obviously some of your attacks will contradict what you said or did priorly. No problem as there are two premises to Situational Relativism. First is human nature, in general, is to forget quickly; Secondly, attack as the situation arises and ignore former attack contradictions as the current attack must be related quickly to this moment's assault to achieve desired outrage.

(30,107 posts)around the word "Christians" as the vast majority of Christians are NOT "Christofascists". Fundamentalist and Evangelical Christians comprise only one third of American Christians, and an even smaller faction of the 2.2 Billion Christians worldwide.

(4,741 posts)They are christians. Doesn't matter what their numbers are.
They belong to the religion, and putting it in quotes is trying to imply that they're something other than christian.
That's a vicious and bigoted lie trying to say that they can't be "real" christians, oh no, they have to be not-christians, because only not-christians are immoral. And that is a bloody filthy lie that you should be ashamed of yourself for promoting so that you can distance yourself from members of the religion you find distasteful.
They're *your* awful people, and we not-christians had bugger all to do with creating them. That's all on your religion. Nothing else. Stop blaming us for your religion's failures and clean up your own dirty laundry. We're sick of being blamed for things we had no part in.

(64,881 posts)that the gun manufacturers don't intend for the guns to be used to kill people; the guns might be used for hunting or for target shooting or for sport or for non-lethal self-defense, or as paperweights or suppositories or whatever else.
Abortion pills, they will claim, are specifically intended To Kill An Innocent Life and therefore "different" from their precious gunz gunz gunz, which are only created for goodness and patriotism and virtue.
It's bullshit, of course, but Republicans are masters of the double standard and will have their soundbytes ready and waiting.

(52,000 posts)In at least three states - Missouri, Alabama and Louisiana - the Republicans are working on laws that will punish women who get abortions with murder. They're all like "oh no, we won't REALLY punish women who get abortions, we just want to stop doctors from doing them." Oh really? Then explain why you're writing laws that allow women to be prosecuted for murder.
The only difference between what the Republicans are trying to do and Margaret Atwood's book is that, so far as I know, they are not trying to set up a system where a woman has to sit on the bed with another woman's head in her lap so the other woman can be comforted during her monthly rape.
