Paula Broadwell is a wing-nut. No doubt about that. It appears to me that she was passing along what she had heard on Fox News.
The evidence that she provided that information to Fox News (or other RW source), rather than parroting what a million people had heard on Fox, seems to be zero.
The evidence that the claim is true is close to zero. (Fox News says they confirmed it with an anonymous person.)
Her comment's about Petreus not being able to talk about things like the prisoners in Benghazi is exactly what anyone trading on their knowledge of Petreus would say. If she believed the Fox report then of course she would know that Petreus knew about it.
And since she had broken off the relationship some time earlier it is not obvious that she was intimate with Petreus in the Benghazi time-frame.
He apparently emailed her literally thousands of times after she broke it off.
So are we to assume that Petreus was mixing false classified information in with the sexual stalker emails, like making up that Benghazi was a secret prison?
Or are we to assume that the prisoners story was true. And if we assume that, why? Is there evidence for it? This is where the whole thing falls apart... if the story is not true then it is quite unlikely to have come from Petreus.
In any event, it seems that by the time of Benghazi they were not involved and that we (meaning American intelligence, not you and I) probably know whatever information she received from Petreus in that time frame, since the FBI has gone through the thousands of emails.
The one thing I have learned for sure about this is that Petreus is compulsive and unreliable. It appears that he spent much of his tenure at the CIA sending thousands of sex emails to a woman who had broken off their relationship. (And when you are being stalked by the director of the CIA you are truly being stalked.)

(1,660 posts)But I think that Broadwell thought the prisoner's story was true. Whether it was actually true, we don't know, but I think she believed it was so.
And I know this is a wild conspiracy theory and I've seen people hint it here but not really come out and say it. I will say it. I think someone in the conservative cabal flat out set up the entire Innocence of Muslims trailer/and spread this info throughout the middle east, and also purposefully planned the Benghazi attack. I think it was supposed to be a mirror of the Iran hostage situation with the terrorists taking hostages and/or murdering folks. (I want to think they wouldn't purposefully kill anyone but I can't put it past them). I think Petraueus, and Rove and a small group of others knew about this. Petraueus is also a rw'er. I think Petraueus was supposed to follow a "Obama lied, people died" script. I think the prisoner's story was part of the script.
I don't think they calculated for the affair and the FBI investigations. I think the RW/Afghanistan General just sort of walked into this blindly, and in his attempt to smear obama about Benghazi, he opened up another can of worms implicating his own ilk.
Anyway this is just me talking. I'm guessing Fox noise will get their orders to drop the Benghazi story immediately.
