I laid it on the line about how the CEO was living extravagantly while denying health care to his employees. I said 14 cents is nothing but bread crumbs or "bread sticks" compared to feeding his opulent lifestyle and greed.

Guess he couldn't come up with a decent explanation for his attitude so he just left it at that.

(174 posts)This mother f is a monster and should be treated like a pile of feces. Amass as much wealth as you can by squeezing the employees. And getting rewarded for it. You know why his house is so big? Because he pays a far lower tax rate than the people that work for him.

(10,597 posts)L-A-B-O-R. That's right, they would be nowhere without labor, i.e. employees. Yet they have the gall to treat them the way they do: Low wages, cut hours, no benefits, blackmail, down-sizing, off-shoring, very little union representation left, etc., etc., etc. That is some kind of hubris. It's like we are going to have to re-fight the labor struggles all over again that were fought 100-150 years ago. I've always marveled at how the corporatists brag about capitalism and free enterprise, yet we have a standing unemployment list. There should be very little employment if it's truly all that great. It just seems to me THEY are the ones that need to be down-sized themselves. This might be the "richest nation on earth," but this kind of employer behavior has redistributed all the wealth to the top 1-5% of our society. Our standard of living is being lowered more and more and more. And to top it all off, they are trying to take our Medicare, Social Security, Medicaid, and unemployment benefits.
What about a new office in the department of labor for labor reform. We have a Chamber of Commerce for business. This new labor reform dept office would one-by-one go back through our standing laws that pertain to the relationship between business and labor. Set a standard of requirements that businesses have to adhere to in order to remain in business, as to pertaining to their employees. I know, that's what the labor unions are for, but one by one the unions are disappearing.
I'm just brainstorming here. Really, this cannot go on and on. This is not PROGRESS. We are going backwards. I digress for now...

(31,706 posts)...and if Shnatter thinks so, he's about to get a rude awakening. He just pissed off 50% plus of the electorate with his selfish stupidity and hopefully we'll see the beloved "marketplace" determine his fate. Personally I have never had one of his cardboard pizzas and, like many others, take my business to locally owned Pizza places (being in the Mecca of Pizza; Chicago, makes it pretty easy to ignore inferior pizza) but I'm seeing many others who will gladly take their business elsewhere as well. Let's see if Schnatter's vanity continues to destroy his business...every time his smarmy mug shows up on teevee as a reminder of his greed and shitting on his own people.
This is a perfect opportunity for the UFCW to get involved...not the labor department. The union needs to get the word out about how people are getting screwed over while the corporates make big money. I'd love to see Biggie Rat in front of every Papa Johns. Lets see how long it takes for that douchenozzle to cave and provide deserved health insurance, benefits and RESPECT to his workers...the people who made him filthy rich...
