I'm pissed as hell.
First they came for Roe vs Wade.
Then they came for Affirmative Action.
Then they came for protecting LGBTQIA from descrimination.
And now they've come for student loan relief.
I've lost more Civil Rights in the last 2 years than all of my years on this planet.
I'm very sick, read in nursing care sick, I'm on disability. I'm the parent of a gay trans child. I'm over $150,000 in debt to student loans I'll never pay off in my lifetime because I'm too sick to work. I'm female. I'm Native American.
What about people like me?
And sorry but I greatly disagree with Biden saying he doesn't support expanding the Supreme Court because it would "politicize" it. What in the world do we have now? And Clarence Thomas & Alito need to be removed by impeachment. They're completely owned & corrupt.
Term limit SCOTUS to 20 years
People should elect SCOTUS justices.
The last time the court was expanded was in 1869. Expand it.
I'm absolutely livid. I'm pissed. I'm sick & tired of constantly being beat up by people in DC. I'm about done at this point.
This country is a gigantic ball of shit. Over 90% of tribal communities don't even have clean drinking water. Don't even get me started.
Sorry but I really needed to vent.
I'm absolutely pissed.

There's a lot I can say right now. You have no idea how hard I'm biting my tongue at the moment. I'm livid.

(6,884 posts)AOC reminded us just today that they have an alternative to student loan relief already on the books.

We've been there done that. Segregated lunch counters, no minorities work, eat, buy, live here...
I thought the Interstate Commerce clause solved this, but they revive it under Free Speech?!

(1,895 posts)There is such a lack of empathy and such a lot of hatred and criminality in this country, and I am not just talking about politicians. Not going to celebrate the Fourth at all this year. It feels more like we should be holding a funeral for the death of the dream.
I am still going to vote, still going to try and talk some sense into those who are capable of comprehension, but I don't have much hope it will change in the remainder of my lifetime. As I told my friend, even if Trump were to keel over from natural causes tonight, or got sent to prison before the election, there are still a million more Magats standing in line to take his place.
I also agree with all due respect that Biden is wrong to not expand the SC.

(2,045 posts)People who owe money on student loans, people who want reproductive freedom, trans people and their families, victims of gun violence and their families, people who want the freedom to read for themselves and their children, racial and ethnic minorities, poor people, and lots of other people who are being victimized by right-wing bigotry and discrimination all need to vote BLUE. Next year's election ought to be a huge BLUE WAVE election.

(348 posts)You can get your student aid discharged due to disability. Check here:

I too am furious this has happened. I repaid my loans and finished in 2014. But, that does not mean I do not support complete forgiveness of all student aid debt. We lost this fight to which I am furious about it. I just hope this information is enough to help you specifically.

(10,980 posts)Tribal people are getting a screwed all across the country. I'm appalled at what we have done to your treaty rights. Basic services like water, power, phone and internet are in a third world state for so many reservations.

(16,734 posts)I'm livid myself, and I don't have nearly many reasons as you do! I'm upset that my daughter won't get the student loan relief she was hoping for, and I have been livid about the Dobbs decision for the past year, but I'm relatively insulated from the direct effects of most of the other recent decisions. If anyone ever comes for my Social Security and/or Medicare as the Republicans keep threatening to do, I'll be incandescent with rage, but that hasn't happened yet, thank God. So far, I'm mostly just sitting here being angry on behalf of everyone who is getting screwed over by SCOTUS, even though a lot of it doesn't have a direct impact on me personally. *way sigh*
I'm absolutely with you on expanding the court, and I'm cautiously hopeful that Biden will change his tune once he's reelected to his second and last term, especially if we can get control of the House and flip some more Senate seats. An effort to expand the court wouldn't go anywhere right now anyway, as long as Kevin and the Chaos Caucus are running things in the House.
We just need to hang tight for now and concentrating on winning the 2024 election. It's hard, I know, and I feel lousy saying that, but I don't see what else we can do. In the meantime, go ahead and be livid. You have every right!

(2,911 posts)and not one of the PTB that are supposed to be on our side seems to care. Maybe we ought to start throwing the same kind of hissy fits that the RWNJ's throw. At least they get attention, get listened to, and get things changed in their favor. You know the old saying, "The squeaky wheel gets the oil." These magas are not even a third of this country, yet anyone would believe they're the majority from all the screaming, crying, and whining... not to mention bad behavior... that comes from these people. And you know what? They get their laws passed, no matter who has the majority in congress or who rails against them.
Wonder what SCOTUS would do if, in addition to their own RWNJs acting up... threatening anyone and everyone... and widely acting on their worst behavior with no shame -- I wonder what SCOTUS would do if they'd have all of us doing the same type of thing in public. Screw shame. It's time to make someone listen to us and take us seriously before the government just hands to country, our rights, our civil liberties, our lives to the fascists. Cause they sure don't seem to take seriously protecting our rights.

(883 posts)Biden should have already done it. It has been done before. I don't understand why he has been hesitant. The other courts have been expanded. How much damage is he going to allow them to do? Hoping that the destruction the Supreme Court has caused by their recent rulings will be votes for democrats later. In the meantime the damage done will take decades to fix and more destruction if the republicans stay in power.
