I'm only 1:20 into the video and they are both praising Elon Musk as a liberal????
I apologize for putting this here after only watching 1:20 seconds but Maher and RFK Jr. are so bad I can't take anymore.

(8,441 posts)libertarian/anarchist, he reveres musk and push conspiracy theories such as anti vac.
Frankly I've long since come to wonder whether he's been bought. His political/ideological reversal, otherwise hard to fathom.

(56,861 posts)He's always been a gaping asshole.
Everybody needs to walk away from Bill Maher, immediately. If you're a liberal, Maher hates your guts. He's not going to stop his slide into full-scale rightwing skid-mark status---he's making too much money at it...

(75,928 posts)I've been giving it a chance, same as with the KARDASHIANs and Celebrity Apprentice for a couple of seasons, because I want to know what people are talking about and to have my own take on things.
For his regular show I've gone against the headwind here of calling him a sell-out and favoring wingnuts and his criticizing Libs because we Libs are known for looking inward to identify strategy flaws and correct them. Besides in his defense because, despite hosting wingnuts, he usually stands them down.
*** With the (unscripted?) "Random," he has come across as *STALE* - harping on how he got cancelled for Politically Incorrect for saying the terrorists were courageous, and irritating about how he defines "freedom" as able to refuse the vaccinations and masks, but more stale and fuddy duddy about how he says Libs are unthinking and just kneejerk in "obedience" (wearing masks OUTSIDE). Repeat/repeat/repeat how he loves Johnny CARSON, who was the BEST, and how things used to be great - sounding very much like MAGA.
Instead of being his erstwhile semblance of "cutting edge," he sounds like "get off of my yard."
*** But I saw a YouTube of him with ROGAN, and he seemed to be IN LOVE, intimidated by ROGAN's physicality and submitting to ROGAN's dominance in being "open" to wingnuts, "free speech" doncherknow.
Over the years his claim to fame has been how Libertarian he is to (Free Love?) regarding women of whatever ideology and race, yet I saw him being VERY uncomfortable with Leslie JONES, who guested as very OPEN and EQUAL with him, not kissing up to him, and he was very uncomfortable with her.
Then he demands that the guests smoke pot and drink. Some don't do it and he acts shocked. And with the ones he kisses up to, like he did on ROGAN's show, he gets all giddy and tells them he wants them to go for a Vegas weekend with him. The other one who stood up to him was Kris JENNER, who is nothing if not experienced at dealing with immature underlings. She didn't do the pot/alcohol thing, talked like an adult to him like Leslie JONES, and let his Vegas overture just die in the air.

(9,211 posts)He makes the same points he has made for years, with many of the same anecdotes, lists the same grievances, using much of the same wording as he had numerous times in the past. It's like someone recorded him years ago and has just had the recording on repeat.
His perspectives are stale and he reinforces them with sketchy data and logical fallacies. He's not a very good moderator and seems more concerned about using his guests as mere supporting cast.
His schtick is just hackneyed and pointless now.
And the "Vegas weekend" thing simply sounds pathetic, like a 25-year-old who can't let go of his now-departed college fraternity days.

(75,928 posts)* MUSK. As could have been predicted doing as ROGAN did, he received MUSK onto the regular HBO show like royalty (although he says he hates royalty). He kissed MUSK ass for the entire segment (the one-on-one part at the intro) and kissed it at the "Overtime" part when the Intro guest is supposed to sit in but when MUSK was a no show, saying, "He had to leave to save the world." The most he can dismiss is that MUSK "sometimes says crazy things" but he can be excused for all the genius that he is. MY take is that MUSK is another billionaire/oligarch who trades on doing and getting anything he wants.
* MAHER's take on Gays. His calling card has been Libertarian *FREEDOM* - drugs, sex, whatever. I assumed this included sincere acceptance toward Gays. The only Gay I had ever seen him interact with was Andrew SULLIVAN on the HBO show, on the panel where the discussion issues were basically generic politics, not specifically Gay issues, so nothing different. But on the "Random" thing, to the couple of Gay guests, he acted giddy and clearly "separated" himself as very very hetero - making Beavis/Butthead type references to sexual activities and asking along the lines of circumcision, but most of all harping that where he draws the line on all things is anal sex, that he cannot even think about it, how poop is involved, yukking and yukking like a middle schooler, like how Tweety/Chris MATTHEWS and BARNICLE acted like spit-balling Catholic school kids. I forget who the guests were, but they appeared to have expected a serious discussion of general issues, only to be treated like poop.

(24,829 posts)He's a terrible at interviewing as he generally allows his guest to spout any Ole shit and agrees with everything. Tomorrow he could have a vaccine scientist on and make fun of RFK. He blows with the wind.
