(86,798 posts)until it finishes the "on air" time slot then I can watch online. I live way out in the boonies and have no TeeVee. But I have been anxiously waiting to watch it all day, after that I can watch Maddow. They are the most realistic and honest journalists on the tube anymore... even though I watch online.
Thanks for the heads up.

It's funny how the other cats seem to sense my grief and try

Cats are the most spiritual creatures on the planet, IMO.

Hell, I wish I could fly!
How do they

(17,162 posts)I could never trust a person who didn't love cats.
They seem to have evolved among us with the perfect balance of
independence and devotion-
And someone please tell me,
HOW is it possible for any creature to jump seven feet in the air
and cross a gate only to land, with perfect balance, on it's invisible target on the other side?
Amazing just doesn't cover it IMO!

Never knew what the kitteh ratio was-
And yes, 6 times his height is AMAZING.
I firmly believe the reason the coyote got my Spider
was because he could no longer do that- hip problems and all.
He did get his licks in though- I found plenty of coyote fur at the scene of the murder.

(17,162 posts)Knowing that a cat's life expectancy doubles if they are kept indoors.
Spider liked to do his "business" in private- in the 13 years he was my buddy,
I NEVER, not ONCE, saw him "go."
He always excused himself around 3 or 4 AM to go do his business.
He always stayed in our fenced yard.
He was SMART.
He always came back within 15 minutes.
Ready to be snuggled and tucked back in to the bed next to me.
And then, he did not. That fateful night.
Mystery to me is WHY is he left the yard.
My neighbor, two yards away, found him, or what was left of him...
How I miss him.
He was the COOLEST cat EVER!

(3,845 posts)The "after the break" story must be done by now, did it deliver how "the Petraeus scandal all started with an attempt to smear the President"?
Ruby the Liberal
(26,219 posts)that Jill Kelley reached out to about the Fatal Attraction emails (the guy who sent her shirtless pics of himself) is a total RW nut job. FBI pulled him off the case (and cut him out of the updates) because he was too 'close and personal' to it. Fearing that there was going to be a coverup, he fancied himself the Bob Woodward/Carl Bernstein of 2012 and took the scoop to a RW Rep from Washington State and Eric Cantor because he wanted the information public before the election and didn't think the FBI was going to continue to pursue it.
Now, its all kind of blowing up in his face as everyone within spitting distance is being shown to be a lunatic of the highest order, or corrupt, or just plain morally bankrupt. Now a second general (Allen) has had his confirmation hearing put on hold, general Petraeus has lost his career, and 4+ families have been upended.
All because RWNJ thought he had the "goods" on the administration.
Convoluted enough?

(62,683 posts)Ruby the Liberal
(26,219 posts)a naturally 'unnamed FBI source' that said he went to R-WA (Green River guy) and Cantor out of frustration - because he was cut off from the updates, he thought they weren't pursuing it. As we know now (or as they are telling us), both Broadwell and Petraeus were questioned in Sept/Oct about this, but as RWNJ didn't know that, he leaked because he thought he had the October Surprise.
The word used in the quote was that these actions outside of protocol was due to his "worldview".
I googled "worldview + Cantor" and think it was this NYT article:
But the agent, who was not identified, continued to nose around about the case, and eventually his superiors told him to stay the hell away from it, and he was not invited to briefings, the official said. The Wall Street Journal first reported on Monday night that the agent had been barred from the case.
Later, the agent became convinced incorrectly, the official said that the case had stalled. Because of his worldview, as the official put it, he suspected a politically motivated cover-up to protect President Obama. The agent alerted Eric Cantor, the House majority leader, who called the F.B.I. director, Robert S. Mueller III, on Oct. 31 to tell him of the agents concerns.
The official said the agents self-described whistle-blowing was a little embarrassing but had no effect on the investigation.

(36,437 posts)He was simply the person who alerted the FBI Tampa office to the situation. He was never assigned any formal role in the investigation itself.
Think of it this way:
A beat cop notices that there are a lot of coming and goings to a particular house on his beat, and suspects that it may be drug house.
The beat cop reports this at a morning meeting, and his sergeant contacts the vice squad, who have a special drug task force for that neighborhood.
The investigation begins among the drug task force. The beat cop, while "initiating" the investigation, has no formal role in the investigation: he is still a beat cop and has not been reassigned to the drug task force.
The drug task force is investigating separately.
The beat cop cannot be "pulled" from the investigation, because he was never on it. That's the story with shirtless FBI employee. He reported a suspicious thing to relevant personnel within the Bureau, but had no formal role in the investigation.
Ruby the Liberal
(26,219 posts)See the link in my post above that I was paraphrasing from. They stopped allowing him to get updates on the case. Maybe "cut him off from the information flow" fits better?

(46,436 posts)but is there any connection between this scandal and the confusion following Benghazi? I SO want some ammo to shut up my FB friend who won't let the Benghazi thing go. Could the CIA under Petraeus have purposefully given confusing or misleading information about what happened there?
AntiFascist
(12,792 posts)that the CIA was holding prisoners (defying a Presidential order) at the Benghazi site which ultimately led to the attack. The cover story is now that this information was based on a false Fox news report, and the CIA is denying that there is any truth to this. Meanwhile, the FBI is thoroughly searching Broadwell's home and has found a substantial amount of classified documents that she should not have been in her possession. Also, Petraeus is now resigned because of his affair with Broadwell. Obviously, this is about much more than just an affair.
