Not white enough, rich enough, or smart enough.

Last month Jennifer Caballero walked out of her school, climbed a fence, and managed to drown. She was a special needs child, couldn't speak very well, some Spanish, and would answer to Jenny. Just prior to her dying the gym teacher foun her and told the special needs teachers to keep a better eye on her.

Hillsborough County now says no criminal charges will be filed. She is not the first special needs child to die or suffer from abuse here in hillsborough county schools. Were the hell is nancy grace or any other national media? How did this child climb a fence? She wore braces on her legs.

This case makes me sick. Maybe because it hits close to home. I have an autistic son and have battled hillsbourogh county schools here for the last 5 years. I was lucky enough to qualify for the McKay grant and put him in a private Christian school for special needs. I garuntee if this girl had blond hair, blue eyes, came from a powerful family, she would be the lead story on nancy grace. Or at least charges would have been files. I can't begin to say how sick I am right now at hillsbourogh county school system.

you might want to write to her and ask her, as the parent of an autistic child, if she would highlight this story on her show. Tell her that you have personal experience with the school system (she may put you "on the phone" to talk about your experiences, who knows?). Thank her profusely in advance. It might do the trick.

It won't bring the kid back, but maybe you can help shine a spotlight on the issue.

I'm to pissed right now, and would come off as a raving lunatic. It would serve me better to be more level headed.

Your ire might produce a gem of expression that piques her interest.

Then re-read your work this evening, and make your adjustments before sending; I think you have a very personal POV, a righteous passion on this matter and that might do the trick.

NG is a fiend for motherhood and protection of kids. Open with those observations about her, and how you "know" she is a champion of the downtrodden. If you speak well of someone to their face, they more often than not try like hell to live up to that characterization!

Good luck--let us know if she takes the hook!

Fired off an email, also did the twitter thing. Here is the email I sent. Hopefully she will bite.

Nancy, I have never done this, written to a show. But I believe that your voice on this is needed immediately! Last month Jennifer Caballero walked out of her school, climbed a fence, and drowned in a retention pond. Prior to her drowning the gym teacher warned the special needs teachers that she needs to be looked after.

Today hillsborough county said there will be no criminal charges. How did ahe get away? how did this child climb a fence? where were the trachers?Jennifer's mother trusted that the teachers and school would provide a safe and healthy environment for her daughter to get an education. That trust was thrown away when somehow Jennifer died.

This is not the first time a special needs child has died in the care of hillsbourogh county schools. I am the father of a special needs child and have had to battle hillsbourogh county school system for years. Thankfully my son is now in a private school for special needs children and I don't have to deal with them. I can not imagine the pain that Jennifer's mother is going through. The fact that the teachers who are responsible for her death are sitting at home on paid leave and will not face any charges is a great injustice. I hope you will bring this story to light, it will not bring Jennifer back, hopefully it will shed some light on the problems we face as special needs parents when dealing with the school system. Maybe it will give Jennifer's mother some sense that her daughters death will make a difference. Thank you for your time.

If she doesn't take you up on this, she's not doing her job...or her producers aren't doing their job!

Maybe the gate was open, but that would leave them open to a lawsuit so someone locked it after the incident. just speculating
