Just sent an e-mail to my Republican Representative in Va:

To: Representative Hurt, 5 District, VA
The so called ‘fiscal cliff’ needs a compromise between the Democrats and the Republicans other than just having the Republicans saying ‘we do it our way, or no way at all’. The first day that Pres. Obama was in office four years ago, your party met and said that you should stop Obama from accomplishing anything. Now you are willing to let the lower income people get a tax increase which will be very difficult for them, but NO, don’t let the wealthy pay one single penny more in taxes, that will kill jobs? Bull… the wealthy don‘t spend their personal money to create jobs. They spend it on investments, which many, such as Mitt Romey, put into places offshore (Switzerland, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, etc.) so they don‘t have to pay ANY taxes.
Now, maybe this is not precisely how you personally feel, but this is the way it is coming across to many millions of Americans. The ‘47%’ will never forget that is the way the Republicans think. If the Republican Party doesn’t change in the next two years, there just may not be a Republican Party left.
I highly recommend that you pay attention to what Gov. Jindal of LA. has been saying to you the last few days. Now there is a Republican who seems to know how the REAL world works.
You may have noticed that Pres. Obama has accomplished a whole lot with out you. Just think how much could really be accomplished if the Republicans would start working with him, at least do real compromising.
That way you can also get credit from the voters.
I am in the 5th district, and I expect you to work for the good of all people here - not just the ones you want to please.
