The Note
Nov 15, 2012 9:11am
By Michael Falcone
Romney says president Bill Clinton called him after the election and said he might have won if not for Hurricane Sandy.
Romney: I spoke with president Clinton the day before yesterday, he called and spent thirty minutes chatting with me. He said a week out I thought you were going to win. And he said, but the hurricane happened, and it gave the president a chance to be presidential, and to look bipartisan, and you know he got a little more momentum, and of course he also said that when he was watching Ann speak at the Republican convention, he decided he was tempted to join the Republican Party. So he may have just been effusive with generous comments as he chatted.

(356 posts)... calling me out on posting an item from a highly respected source, just because you might not first, agree with the sentiment, or second, not believe the object of the source's citation?
Did you even give a nanoseconds consideration that I, too, suspect a number of elements of this narrative and posted it as a precedent to what might just become yet another, of thousands, major demonstration of just what a clusterfuck that is Romney?
... while awaiting the response from President Clinton's office in clarification or outright refutation.
Thanks, btw, for you kind comment. Much appreciated.

(356 posts)Irrespective of your protests:
24. Indeed. And as of this morning...
... and although these representations relative to the purported call have been in the ether for the last 48 hours, there seems to be little other than crickets from President Clinton or his office.
None at least that I can find and frankly, I had posted this with the anticipation that there would be one gigantic slap-down from the Big Dog, if not specific to the occurrence of the actual call, itself, at least specific to the narrative that Romney provides and the content that Romney referenced.

Update: day four and still nary a peep from President Clinton denying the call or Romney's report of its substance.
Moreover, permit me to anticipate your next failed attempt: "But the Big Dog is too far above responding to such an OBVIOUS liar and his lying lie!" Allow me to reply to that: Bullshit.
BTW2, looking forward to - if not your direct apology for your original post challenging even my right to post this matter - at least your personal regret for your post being inappropriate, irrational, and a wee bit hysterical.

WASHINGTON -- Mitt Romney claimed during a call with donors on Wednesday that he received a call from former President Bill Clinton, who told Romney that had it not been for Hurricane Sandy, he might have won the election.
ABC News offers the following transcript of the former GOP presidential nominees comments ....
- SNIP -
A spokesperson for Clinton did not immediately return a request for comment.

(979 posts)I have no problem believing that President Clinton would say exactly that, if only to fuck with Mitt's head.
Now Mitt can spend the rest of his days thinking about how tantalizingly close he came to the crown jewels.

(20,885 posts)Mitt probably said something like, "I had a good chance, huh?" And Bill gave him the obligatory patronizing answer, dressed up with some Clinton bullshit.
Bill probably can't believe that Mitt went to the press with this.
