(70,594 posts)Do not open that email .... because it will say after a while that to get your package you will
have to pay for it with a credit card. BTW I have gotten the same thing from faux FEDEX
and UPS acounts.

(25,992 posts)Its simple to look at the senders information in the header. If it says something other than USPS, consider it a scam.

(14,337 posts)USPS does not have a cross reference from addresses to emails and phone numbers, and even if they did, without the house number how would they know that it's you?

(115,879 posts)If there's a package with an illegible address, how would they know it's for you, and how would they get your email address or cell number to text you?

(13,571 posts)delivery, so they do have an email address for me, but not a phone number. That is all they use that email for and never have they emailed me to ask a question.

The USPS package has arrived at the warehouse and cannot be delivered due to incomplete address information. Please confirm your address in the link within 12 hours.

(Please reply to Y, then exit the SMS, open the SMS activation link again, or copy the link to Safari browser and open it)
The US Postal team wishes you a wonderful day

I reported to USPS, which is not easy. You basically have to file a compliant rather than email to a phishing report address, as most businesses do.

(32,095 posts)If, for instance, it's a package being sent to you by Amazon, Amazon will send you the message that they can't deliver it, not the USPS. As others point out, the USPS will not have your e-mail.
One way to tell if an e-mail is a scam is to hover your cursor over the link in the message. Odds are, it doesn't link to who they say it does. If you are still unsure, go directly to USPS's help page (or wherever) separately from the e-mail, and inquire there.
I occasionally get e-mails like this, when I'm not even expecting a package. That's another way to tell it's a scam.
