The consultant claimed the republicans need to become missionaries to convert more Democrats and Independents to republicans. Since the big election victory, I have been thinking about what our side need to do. In my view, we need to go to the Howard Dean 50 state strategy on steroids. We need to challenge republicans for southern whites that are not racists but have some concerns about our arguments, we need to challenge for them in southern cities, and in small towns. We need to challenge hard for midwestern Whites that aren't racists, but don't cotton to our points of view. We need to challenge republicans for urban and rural Hispanics, rural and urban Whites, Asians, Blacks, Middle Easterners. We need to challenge in every city and town of every state. We can't argue that we are for everyone when we are willing to leave someone out that we may be able to work with.

(9,791 posts)The gerrymandering in PA will make it harder for Dems to win statewide or nationally. The new districts are eye popping to say the least. Towns and townships are even split. It seems contrary to the PA constitution to me.

(5,167 posts)that the Dems were intent on running a candidate in every Congressional race, and did succeed in getting the necessary number ?
I also agree that state offices need to be challenged, as well as others down ticket.
Though there were Dem candidates in OH 1 & 2, Dem. campaigns were not run. In OH-2 (my district), the Dem. nominee was a truck driver who was on the road making a living instead of campaigning. - His campaign was a farce, or non-existent. No appearances, no debates. In effect, no Dem opposition. Demoralizing.

(22,308 posts)simply because the more people we can get to vote the better we do.
It seems like the only way to really beat Citizens United in the long term. Sooner or later the big money will figure out how to use that decision to full effect. They screwed the pooch this cycle but we can't assume that will continue to be the case in the future.

(3,450 posts)The national Democratic Party leaders need to stop going into "snooze" mode after every Presidential election . They need to start thinking about the suggestions made in this thread. And they need to push to win more state houses and governorships!!!!!
