it is more important to reform taxes to a more progressive system, which doesn't require a constitutional amendment.

Some oversight of states with long traditions of locking out minorities does occur. The voting rights law is actually up for review by the SCOTUS, and I would not be surprised if they struck it down.

Elections are handled by the states. Even if Democrats controlled the House, there is little they could do except attempt to amend the Constitution. It would still require 38 states to ratify an amendment, and they will not reduce their own power.

Election reform must be handled on a state by state basis. It is too difficult to amend the Constitution as can be seen from the history of the Equal Right Amendment that was passed in 1972 and still need to two states to ratify.

If you are in a state that had big problems this past election cycle, get together with people and begin a push to reform your states voter laws. Otherwise, it will not get done.

Some thing are simply beyond our power.
