Will the GOP keep the crazies out of their primary process?

I don't think they can, and we should encourage their crazies

On "Morning Joe" they've been having all these discussions about keeping them in check or the repugs will continue to lose ground.

I wonder how they propose putting the destructive force into a straitjacket. They may have to kidnap Rush Limbo and gag him.

Congress. There is a lot of talk about Boehner having trouble with the teabaggers. That's bull. He is a teabagger himself.

The only way around them, would be to drown them out with moderates. The Democrats are winning moderates by a large margin. The Republicans are going to die a slow death.

rules to avoid a loss (something the Ron Paul crowd found out this summer).

Years ago, I was a Hart supporter (yeah, youth ) at a state caucus. They kept holding and reholding the vote over and over until Mondale was the winner. It was pointless, Mondale was the predetermined winner and nothing was going to change that.

The crazies are the ones who turn out.

GOP voters have no one but themselves to blame for nutbag primaries. When only the nutbags show up (read: 30% turnout), that's what happens.

Memo from Jed Bartlet: "Decisions are made by those who show up."

While the plutocrats have all the money, there just aren't that many of them. Ergo, the lunatics will continue to control the Repig party.

I think they just used this election to weed out the chafe they never wanted in the first place. Anybody who had a real chance didn't want to go down in history as an idiot like rMoney or Palin. They need balance it with enough moderates in the primary process or they'll get thrashed with a bamboo cane all over again in 4 years.

in the Repig party. Perhaps they can repackage Chris Christie as a moderate, or Huntsman may take another run but the pickings are awfully slim - no pun intended. Most Repig governors and US Senators are total wingnuts and let's not even talk about the House. All of the Jerry Ford/Nelson Rockefeller types were purged long ago and are now conservative to moderate Democrats.

running as candidates, keep the crazies from voting in the Rape-publi-scum primaries or both?

The GOP cannot keep crazies from running as candidates (see Akin and Mourdock) and if it tries to keep crazies from voting in its primaries, it will revert to its real share of the electorate (10-15%).

The Rethuglies can't keep the crazies out of their primary process. As much as it may pain some lurking "mainstream" Republican to read this (Don't look at me. I left the dark side 20 years ago), the crazies tend to be better-organized, more motivated and, thanks to the assistance of the likes of the Koch brothers and Sheldon Adelson, better-funded than any so-called "mainstream" "moderate" GOPster. To marginalize the crazies would require whole new levels of commitment and determination from the sorts of ordinary Republicans that tend to ignore their party's primaries and only turn out in November, and I don't think that's gonna happen for two reasons: (A) the power of indolence and apathy and (B) the thoughtful Republicans are abandoning their party and becoming independents or Democrats.
