Do you really want to cut taxes? How about my tips?

I love the service industry and am a socialist so have no problem paying taxes- I believe in a perfect world they would go towards the greater good. However- I believe taxing tips is asanine- if candidates really want to cut unnecessary taxes start with waitstaff/bartender tips. First off we will put it right back into the economy- it would be a stimulus

I'll put it right back into the economy too!

Seriously though, why should any income be exempt? Should fees for speaking engagements be exempt as well?

Totally negates the working hard aspect and allows others who are lazy to make the same as those who bust their asses.

and for those that didn't pull their weight were basically called out in front of other staff members. Their laziness didn't last long, and if they didn't like being called out they would quit. We were making a ton of money, there was no reason not to pull your own weight at $300 a shift.

It's the ones where the waitresses share the tips that bothers me. I have cousins who wait tables in a place that shares tips. My mom finds ways to give them money without them even knowing about it so they don't get into trouble. She always gives them good discounts at her store. They work hard, other girls don't, but they get the same. It isn't fair.

Lazy people tend not to last long on 6th and when you serve 3000 people a night it expedites things quite well

They impute the tips and up to the tax filer to dispute. Probably difficult to dispute.

By all income, I mean exactly that. Tips, salary, wages, investment income, church income, all of it.

Tax people who can afford it the most, the rest get a discount on their rate depending on how much they make. FICA counts towards the rate you pay. Nothing other than income gets taxed, whether it's at the federal, state, or local level.

I know that credit card sales are used to estimate tips and I think they only use 7% of the credit card sales as that estimate.

I would rather see waitstaff and bartenders get better benefits, they tend to suck.
