Sovereign citizens in Florida.

If you don't already know, there are citizens who believe that they have sovereign rights, and thus, they don't have to follow the laws of the State or Federal levels. The people in the article were caught for counterfeit.

However, you should be aware that the property rights movement that took hold in Central Florida in the eighties included sovereignty believers who pushed these ideas through local government. i.e. local government is a sovereign body, therefore Commissioners were bestowed full decision-making powers of the city. What that means, is that State and Federal laws did not apply. (If they followed Federal laws, it was because of the penalties or $$ inducers.)

What is crazy was how long they were able to get away with it.

'Sovereign citizens' accused of printing fake checks in Red Roof Inn

Deputies in Osceola County this week said they dismantled a counterfeit-check ring operated by four so-called 'sovereign citizens' in the Red Roof Inn motel in Kissimmee.

Darryl Causby, Drew Causby, Christopher Bull and Annette Bruce are charged with forgery and uttering forged instrument.

Bull was addtionally charged with resisting arrest without violence.

If it has to remain in the County, sometimes you end up with a judge who believes in it too.
