Are the Scumpublicans laying ground for Impeachment? Fux News may have tipped its hand

Last nite I happened to tune into Fux News during Hannity and the first word that came out was literally "impeachment."

One of their duchewad commentators was apparently raising speculation that it was a possibility if a coverup on Benghazi became evident.

Right now, they're talking with rabid Rep Gohemrt about the need for a special prosecutor.

It's looking like instead of actually working to solve the real problems of the country, the Repuglicans are going to revert to form and become dogs in the manger. After unsuccessfully trying their best to beat Obama electorally first time around, they may now be dragging out their old 1990's playbook of trying to cripple a re-elected Democratic president by bogging us all down in a trumped-up phony impeachment crisis.

I hope to God this is incorrect. If they even try to go there, the country should slap them down and impeach all their GOP asses on the grounds of pathological power-hunger.

and the repukes refused funds to protect the embassy, they will be history

The republicans have declared war on women and minorites, and they won't recover from that for a long time

If they are foolish enough to push impeachment, they will only waste time and money and lose. We have a good majority in the Senate, and impeachment will never result in conviction, but it will put a larger stain on the republican party.

They are self-destructing before our eyes, and just maybe, faux will follow them down the tubes

Even if the House impeaches, the Senate will decline to prosecute, and the Republicans will look like fucking cry babies. 2014 will be a blow out of an election, the House will go blue, and the Senate will go super majority. At that point, Citizens United can be overturned, and the Dem candidate in 2016 will walk to the finish line while the Red States (what's left of them) weep.

I have been prepared to see them stomp their feet and engage in their usual obstructionist tactics, including huffing and puffing and poutrages over phony "issues" such as Benghazi.

But the notion that they would try to totally cripple the government to that extent seemed a little farfetched. Call me naive if you want, but I at least gave them some credit for having at least some remaining vestige of common sense not to go there.

What I saw in 99's post was dark, very dry, humor. It's a coping mechanism. This is an internet message board and there are many different ways that people respond to posts and problems. I struggle with it myself sometimes, but it makes for a better DU experience to remember not to take things too personally on here.

they are pushing that as a reason, like they did for Clinton.

Problem--this president hasn't been caught lying under oath yet.

Thus the hearings. They will demand Obama's testimony under oath

Then they'll incite the masses over whatever happens next. They'll make a sideways glace from BO into perjury, treason.

Fox viewers are very gullible and excitable, after the pundits fluff them into a frenzy. And vice versa.

At least they will if they don't get laughed off the stage by their own troops. There is a lot more of that than I expected. The sane repubs are trying for an escape from behind the iron curtain.

I hope they make it out!

They can't accept that a Democrat could be re-elected. If they try there will be massive push back on this. There are some repubs that want to move forward and not get bogged down in petty shit like this. It's just a question of whether the saner ones will prevail. Given their history, they will not.

This is what they do. The whole idea is to bog down the President with legal maneuvers and have some control over the media headlines.
It's no different than they did to Clinton.
Frankly, they are a treasonous organization whose only goal is to be in power and make policy for the ultra rich. They don't have anything else that is why they only appeal to a humans worse instincts.

The whole issue of impeachment is a political one, not a legal one. Here, the voice of the public has been heard. Decisively. If the GOP is so rabid, so sick, so mentally deranged to try something like this, it will cause such a public uproar that the GOP can say goodbye to any election in the future.

They tried this once. It bit them hard. If they do it again, it will leave scars.

I welcome this, because there is no downside.

Although Clinton has been able to rise above it historically, they did succeed to an extent by tying his hands and monopolizing public attention for two years...Ultimately, the smelly fallout helped contribute to the defeat of Gore.

Hopefully the public (and media) won't fall for it again...But we're not always a very intelligent country and it could still become a giant needless pain in the ass.

and are continuing with the same old talking points and "impeachment" is part of that. It's not a new subject and some of the righties have not gotten a new set of talking points so are just falling back on the same ol' same ol'.

But some of them got the memo and seem to be scrambling to try to save the GOP from itself. So now we get people like Jindal speaking out against Romney's comments about the outcome of the election. Haley Barbour is admitting that the GOP needs to do a "procto" on itself. Hey, I'd pay money to see that!

In any case, it is a weird time to be in the GOP and it will, no doubt, be interesting to see whether they eat each other alive or one faction is able to retain control over the other.

Meanwhile, Fox will stick to their talking points and try to navigate their way forward after the beat down they and Mitt Romney and KKKarl Rove suffered last week. They know their audience seldom strays from them to get another point of view so they can safely continue to talk about "impeachment" and other nonsense.

Disarray does not even begin to cover the state of affairs in the GOP.

Get out the popcorn as this could turn out to be fun to watch.

These comments are in no way to suggest that we should simply stand by and watch this unfold. Impeachment is a serious issue here and I believe these low life GOPers will do anything and everything they can to disrupt and destroy President Obama's 2nd Term. But when there is something amusing going on amongst this band of thieves, we should take the opportunity to watch the circus.
