The DU software does not auto imbed tweets from the x.con domain, unlike tweets from the twitter.com domain, which it does
also, please URL trim the '?' and everything after it (that is not just for twitter links)
example
Link to tweet
?s=20
will not display on DU
but if you click on it it yields a link that will display on DU
(snapshot)
(and ?s=20 should be trimmed off or else it displays)
here is what that yields
Link to tweet

(113,974 posts)does not embed and is just irritating. By contrast, the Twitter link will both embed and can be followed (and will load) fairly efficiently if you wish to. Obviously, Musk has monkeyed with the programming to deter those not registered on "X."

youtube
vimeo
etc
and on vimeo you have to remove the
https:// part too

or it shows up too
so just paste in

which yields

(113,974 posts)That is immaterial and totally apart from the issue with embedding on DU. But if you follow a x-link from DU, the same happens. THAT IS MUSK.

(2,973 posts)We don't need previews of Threads, but if DU admin decides to code for that--that would be great too.
EU has not blocked Threads. Meta team is trying to figure out how to release their product in EU which conforms to their privacy standards.

(4,728 posts)why are we monetizing Musk?
Advertisers see the number of clicks/views that his reich-wing sandbox gets. Every click empowers Musk.
There is a lot of inertia left on the site left from the bluebird "town hall" days, but those days are over. Traffic there empowers the Reich wing. People who we want to hear from still use the site, but they are only there because we are. If we leave, they'll follow.
I make a polite ask that people who quote the Musk site copy and paste content when possible, to reduce the empowerment of Musk. One click is better than hundreds.
The bluebird is gone, it's now a vulture.
Threads is also bad. After all, it was largely Zuckerthing and his pre-Meta-tated shenanigans that gave the electoral college to Trump, via the micro-targeted and illegal campaign of advertising conducted by Cambridge Analytica using personal data illegally harvested from Facebook. The plutocracy knows how to manipulate the game, and has the resources.
I would dearly love to see a "town hall" that is isn't owned lock stock and barrel by some billionaire asshole.
