Rep. Bilbray concedes race to Democratic challenger Scott Peters

Rep. Brian Bilbray (R-Carlsbad) has conceded the race for the newly drawn 52nd Congressional District to his Democratic challenger Scott Peters, a former San Diego City Council member.

Peters leads Bilbray by 50.72% to 49.28%. The county registrar of voters is still counting votes but both sides have concluded that the result is no longer in doubt.

In a statement released by his office Friday morning, Bilbray said that he "will continue fighting for the issues I believe in and that benefit San Diego."

He added, "I look forward to finally having the opportunity to spend time with my family and seven grandkids."

I still remember how angry and disgusted I was, back in 2006, when the Republicans swore in Bilbray, before California had made an official determination of the winner in the Bilbray-Busby contest

This is good riddance to bad garbage IMO

the disgraced Randy Duke Cunningham's seat! She lost to Bilbray..we were so bummed. But, now Scott Peterson has Won!

I use to live in Carlsbad in the eighties.. I do also remember Bilbray getting sworn in before California officially called it. This is Sweet Karma ..for Dems!

This is what Francine is up to now, struggle4progress..

This guy has concidered Socal his own until now, he never thought until this year there was a chance of getting beaten. He says he wants to spend time with the grand-kids. I bet he is an oil or coal company lobbyist within the year. He had NEVER put his constituents ahead of himself, he voted just the way he was told like the rest of the TOOLS!
I have lived in SoCal for years and could never figure out how this self serving prick ever got elected much less got re-elected?

I had to call his office to take me off the mailing list. His yard signs were comical, "More jobs, less spending." The fucker blocked the AJA and spent shit loads of money. How ironic.

it has a lot of rural area and all of oceanside (military). Its going to be a while before the county that far north turns blue, but it will eventually.

Someday Issa will say or do something so egregious that even his red district won't be able to stand it.

With both Lungren and Bilbray conceding today. Bera's race was called before Peters, but Bilbray conceded before Lungren, so my question is: Who owns number 200?
