If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, then baffle them with bullshit...

That is what the Republican Party is presently doing to the media in this country. They are creating something out of nothing and most in the media knows it. But, because they can't figure out what the hell is going on, they assume that someone knows something is going on. So they repeat the fantasy stories of the Republican Party.

Being in the foreign service can be dangerous duty. Being in the foreign service in Libya, after the overthrow of Khadafy, was especially dangerous. Every person in Benghazi knew that. It was unfortunate that many in the Congress of the US did not know that and refused to vote more funds for security of our embassies and staff.

It is altogether reasonable to believe that the riots that were in Egypt the day before had spread to Libya and Benghazi. It was a tragic and chaotic time. Americans were killed in the flames and the attack upon our personnel. The President has vowed to hunt down and bring to justice those responsible.

Republicans saw a political advantage. It's too bad they don't see their own vulnerabilities with their reckless charges against this President. They do not seem to recall the thousands that died in Iraq for a lie. (They say other countries had the same intelligence) They don't tell you that most of them got their intel from the US. And they say nothing about the 240 Marines that died in Lebanon when Reagan put them in a deathtrap of a multi-story hotel. It was tragic. But foreign service is dangerous business sometimes. People die. Usually it is young American GI's that pay the price, not embassy workers or CIA agents.

But this Republican Party is reaching for new lows. They lost the last election and they want to create an issue to impeach this President or keep him so busy defending himself that he cannot accomplish anything. Also, they hope to make him more acceptable to negotiating with Republican positions. The media, as usual, is blind to the real story. They only re-gurgitate whatever Lindsey Graham or John McCain says to them. They know it makes no sense. But everybody else is doing it so let's just pretend there is a real story there when, in fact, there is nothing.

the republicans will forever refer to it as "Obama's Benghazi scandal." They already tried to make the Gulf oil spill and hurricane Sandy his "Katrina."
