Just had to call two different doctors who would take my VSP plan under wife's insurance. One didn't (and he's the top eye doctor in the Denver metro area), but the other doctor did so I made an appointment with him. Next month was the earliest available appointment.

BUT dental care is now preventative because of the link between tooth/mouth bacteria and heart problems.

I am new to this forum, so please excuse my naivete. I am confused about Obamacare. When it was first brought up, I thought it was supposed to be that everyone would get healthcare, no matter how poor. Now it seems it's some kind of tax and if I don't have insurance I will be fined. I thought Obamacare WAS insurance. Now it seems that Obamacare is just something to make me go out and get my own healthcare (Something I can't afford which is why I was really hoping to get this Obamacare). I am SO confused! I thought I knew what I was supporting, now I'm not so sure.

I guess what I'm asking is: Is Obamacare socialized healthcare or not? Will I be able to use it if I need it? And why would I be fined for not having it if it costs more than I can afford? Could someone please explain it to me? I would really appreciate it.

http://www.healthcare.gov/law/index.html

For example:

Starting in 2014, if your income is less than the equivalent of about $88,000 for a family of four today and your job doesn’t offer affordable coverage, you may get tax credits to help pay for insurance.

And there's a quick questionnaire (anonymous) to help find insurance:
