Tom Friedman was so good on Meet the Press today.

He really got it right regarding the surge and everything else he said. Seems to me he was the only one who got the facts straight. If you can find a clip...be sure to listen to his comments.

He said Petraeus' surge in Iraq was actually a failure as it was only worked in Iraq because the Sunnis joined the Americans...not because we added more troops. Then he pushed the same failed technique on Obama to do the same thing in Afghanistan...but there were no extra Afghan forces to help... so the surge failed. Therefore, Petraeus' strategy was a failure and so was he. First time I ever heard this idea and it makes perfect sense. It will repeat in an hour so try to listen if you want a more accurate report.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friedman_Unit

The Friedman Unit, or simply Friedman,[1][2] is a tongue-in-cheek neologism coined by blogger Atrios (Duncan Black) on May 21, 2006.[1] One Friedman Unit is equal to six months,[2][3][4][5][6][7] specifically the "next six months", a period repeatedly declared by New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman to be the most critical of the then-ongoing Iraq War even though such pronouncements extended back over two and a half years.
