Bomb explodes near Anderson Cooper during live broadcast from Gaza
Covering the Israeli Palestinian conflict from the Gaza Strip, Anderson Cooper had a frightening moment when a bomb exploded in his vicinity during a live report.
Cooper was giving an update on the shelling that has rocked Gaza for the past several days when an orange flash flared up on screen behind him. As the sound of the explosion caught up to the flash, a startled Cooper quickly ducked out of frame.
It was unclear from the footage where the explosion took place, or what type of device caused it. Cooper, unable to immediately verify where the explosion came from himself, launched right back into the broadcast, nervously laughing off the scare and tying it into the update hed been giving on the state of things in Gaza.
As the Israeli airstrikes entered their sixth day, the death toll in Gaza rose to at least 79, according to Al Jazeera. That tally includes eleven members of one family, four of them children, who were killed in one attack Sunday.
