If soldiers are away from their family, so too should be the Walmart employees.
I wish the righties on my friends list would get bent.

(12,041 posts)They need to be working every single holiday until the soldiers come home if they expect Wal-Mart workers to do it.

(11,304 posts)on the job is 24/7 and they get combat pay when their in the combat zone. When they aren't they get many days off and depending what base your on you might get an extra day off. Such as Thanksgiving on a thursday so they give them a friday off. That was some of the soldiers get to go home and spend time with their families. They have a good retirement package and good annual leave and sick leave policies. A WalMart employee doesn't have any of those luxaries soldiers have. My husband who is retired from the military works at WalMart. This year he will have to go in at 7:00 pm on thursday night. Normally he goes in at 10:00pm. You do what you have to do. I can tell you my husband works hard for WalMart. But it is nothing like being in the military. They are 2 different jobs.

Hope you have a great Thanksgiving before he goes in.

(11,304 posts)since his parents adopted him when he was about 4 yrs old and brought him from Germany to the US he felt a sense of doing something for the country to pay back for the good he has received. He is that kind of a man. I'm very proud of him. Now he is retired and working at WalMart and it may not be the same but he gives to his job just like he did while in the service.

(35,392 posts)Mrs. ZBDent had a breast exam.
The next day, her doctor, WHO NEVER MAKES PHONE CALLS TO PATIENTS, left a message on our answering machine, saying that it was important that she get in touch with him right away ...
Panicking, we called to find out what was wrong ...
The nurse on the phone said that they needed to do a more thorough exam, because they found something that concerned them.
(Mrs. ZBDent's father died of cancer, so that caused some real panic).
Oh, and when they could "get her in"? In about a month ... (turns out to be nothing, but thanks for scaring the **** out of Mrs. Z ...)
So (not sheshe2) don't tell me about "waiting in long lines" and being told that you can't have a test done unless it really was OBVIOUS that it was life-threatening ...

(83,898 posts)However I never made a comment ....only asked the poster(who is now gone) what he meant by that statement. I highlighted what he said, then asked the question.
Poster intimated that it was Obama's health care policies that have caused this. Policies i might add that only started to take effect. Most will come into play later.
I am hoping that (not sheshe2) means you were not referring to me.

At least with Obamacare the insurance companies are somewhat restricted now in how badly they can screw us.

(22,336 posts)about her vision insurance and how high her co-pay is and how this is an example of how horrible Obamacare is going to be - they'll have huge co-pays, and how she's worse off than most Americans because of this horrible military insurance. VISION insurance. She has vision insurance, and she said her co-pay and it's far less than my private vision insurance anyway. She has vision insurance, and at better rates than my really good private insurance, but it's an example of how much worse things will be.

(22,336 posts)But they know when they're hired that they will miss holidays with their family, and obviously national security can't take a break for a holiday. Walmart employes are hired thinking the store is closed Thanksgiving, and their jobs are hardly a matter of national security.

(315 posts)... and they are not equating them.
The point of the picture was that Walmart employees are complaining about work and missing a few hours from home when service members are away and miss 9-15 months of birthdays and holidays.

(11,481 posts)Not the same job description, not the same paycheck, not the same benefits, but the peasants shouldn't complain because they're not being shot at in their jobs. Yet.
They are similar in one way though. They both slave their ass off for some fat, cowardly capitalist's profits.
