US blocks UN statement on Gaza

The Unites States has decided to block a draft statement of the UN Security Council on the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict.The statement aims at calling for an immediate ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian militants.

And the UN Security Council is scheduled to meet on Tuesday evening after the draft statement block from the US.

The US Mission to the UN says that the draft fails to address the root cause of the current escalation of the conflict. The US puts the blame on the Palestinian side and stressed that the continuing barrage of rocket attacks from Gaza against Israel is the root.

Of course the Gaza resolution does not attribute blame whereas the Syria one did.
