The evil dark lord rove somehow managed to create a magical phone app... This phone app was so magical, it could turn any phone it was on into a vote hacking ninja. This dastardly plot was then foiled by a... ummm... Firewall... Yes... The claim is that a firewall stopped it. Not just any firewall but one that erased any trace of the original hack as well as itself... Then the evil dark lord rove gave the whole plot away on TV by not being happy at getting his ass kicked and the heroes of this story celebrated by claiming their victory but being ever so sad they were un-able to get a copy of either of these magical hacks. oh... and 9/11 had something to do with it...
This is passing for reason?
The exasperation is just right.

(3,526 posts)....Do you feel any better now than you did before you posted your comment?
Really, what's your point, outside of just stirring the pot that's already been stirred in several other threads?

and then on election night changed passwords/installed a firewall in the server 'tunnel'.

(978 posts)ORCA was the Romney campaign's GOTV app. Rove had nothing to do with it that I recall. The idea was to outfit 80,000 volunteers with the app so they could relay poll activity to Romney's Boston HQ and volunteers there would call voters in weak precincts to get out and vote. The plan was to get the first round of calls done by 1:00 pm. But the app had lots of issues and didn't work well. They called it ORCA because the Obama campaign's version was called Narwhal(sp?) Anonymous had nothing to do with that. ORCA pretty much self destructed on it's own.
Rove's servers were totally different. Rove had an interest in SMARTech which was vote tabulating software and servers. Apparently, several election voting software and servers are run by companies owned by prominent Republicans. These are the servers that Anonymous and/or the Protectionists were putting up Firewalls on to keep votes from flipping. There were three states (tunnels) that Anon installed firewalls on to keep the RATS (Remote Access Transfer?) out of the tunnels. I think they were FL, OH, and VA.
It is confusing and I'm not even sure if I have all the information correct. It originally sounded like it was ORCA that was flipping votes but if you read the Protectionist letter carefully, it was Rove's servers they were after.

The ORCA issue/program is completely different than the voting servers/tunnels stuff.

(40,416 posts)...some guy in a silly pop culture mask posted a video on the Internet which claimed after the fact that he was responsible for saving the world from four years of a Mitt Romney presidency.
I don't have to take anybody seriously who takes this as fact anymore than I take that video seriously.
I think I will post a video on the Net while wearing a Richard Nixon mask that I stopped an asteroid from hitting Wichita, KS. I wonder if that would spurn as much interest as this rubbish is.
