They still "own" the House. And they have enough seats in the Senate to sustain a filibuster.

. . . with any fool initiative coming from the republican House.

In the case of the budget negotiations, republicans don't have any means of forcing anything into law. They need to negotiate with the President's wishes and concerns at the forefront of any deal that's being contemplated. They are at a political disadvantage when considering taxes and the expiration of the Bush cuts for the wealthy. They need to stick with that reality, instead of trying to deflect onto this nonsense. Where was their voter mandate for ending Obamacare? There wasn't one. They LOST that debate. You can't end Obamacare from the House; you can grandstand and dance around the issues at hand, but addressing the fiscal cliff and their insistence on weighting down the budget with tax cuts for the wealthy are incompatible and politically insupportable. That's a losing position Bohner is operating from. Obamacare is in no danger, but the economy is certainly at risk from their refusal to make the critical choices on the budget needed to bolster the economy and prevent their self-imposed gut-shot.Boehner might as well say he wants an election re-do. He's as much a chance of getting that as he is eliminating Obamacare; in this budget negotiation or anywhere else.
