We've transitioned into a heavily vote-by-mail state (upwards of 90% of ballots cast are mailed). Ballots post-marked by election day have 7 days to arrive at the county elections office.
So if various races are close, it might be a hot second before final tallies are known.

(10,162 posts)California's "slow process" earlier today. Just because the state tries to count every vote and puts accuracy and fairness to voters above meeting East Coast deadlines....
The hot race in my neck of the woods is CA-16: there are several good candidates, and I don't expect a result for a week or so.

(51,638 posts)in my opinion. Or should I say "down there"? It seems that there is a race between the 2 publications for failing to be objective. I canceled both in Nov. ENOUGH! I only subscribed in 2017 since the Dems were saying we need to support objective journalism and support them with $$$ or we will get more distorted facts about the GOP. I stupidly subscribed to both. They blew it with me. Fuck both the NYT and WaPo.

(25,902 posts)early voting. I always vote early. Love it.
I can go to any voting place in my county, tell them my name, they'll ask me a couple of questions (date of birth, maybe my address), which is slightly hilarious because I know I'm the only "Poindexter Oglethorpe" in this state (my real name is different, but I am currently the only person with my name in this country). The ballot is then printed up, I vote, collect my "I voted" sticker and I'm on my way.
Were I to relocate, or NM go to mail-in only, I'd be quite happy with that also.

(25,902 posts)I hope that's what you're saying.
I moved here in 2008 after a divorce. Best thing I could have possibly done. I started an entire new life and I'm very glad.
