NY AG Tish James' won judgment against him for fraud.
Conway says it's $17.00 a second. A SECOND. There are 86,400 seconds in a 24 hour day.
Multiply 86,400 by 17, and it's mind boggling. Who is going to pay that, sponsor such a bond? And the accumulation doesn't stop until the appeals are over and the money is disgorged to appropriate entities.
It's just about unfathomable how trump is going to pay this.

They have $200 billion in assets and $60 billion in equity. They wouldn't need outside financing for $90 million.

(14,946 posts)It's a surety bond. A promise to pay if stinky doesn't.
So even though they easily can pay, they don't have to until the appeal ends against tiny and he doesn't pay her.

(53,971 posts)whether it's worth it.
Totally without hyperbole, this upcoming election is the most critical one since Lincoln won in 1860 just before the Civil War broke out because if trump wins the WH again the sponsor/s will own the president of the United States...and all that entails.
How do they get $100 million of benefit when they're a Swiss company?
I think it's simpler to think that the bond is leveraged against ownership share of real property.
Chubb is in the business of making money from other people's money.
They're not in the business of gambling. It's far more scientific.
Betting a hundred million they never get back if he loses in November is not in their business strategy. It wouldn't be in anybody's business plan.
The simplest explanation, to me, is they plan to collect a fee & interest as yield. Strictly business.

(23,190 posts)So far it looks like Putin is still helping him (with the $91 million) but will he put up the half a billion or will he finally realize tsf won't help him because he won't win? We'll see if tsf gets the half a billion bond, you know for sure America is in super deep trouble.

(10,131 posts)86,400 by 17 by 365 days =$536,112,000 /yr interest on roughly that amount owed - can't be right
$454 for fraud plus $83M defamation = $537M
But he paid $91M bond to cover the interest on $83M defamation during appeal.
He'll have to do the same for the bond to cover $454M plus 9.x% interest is $497M
In total, nearly $588M in bonds covers his appeal plus interest during the appeals process for both cases.
Of that, $51M is interest during the appeal.

(53,971 posts)appeals are over and the money is forked over though, right?
That could take a while as trump propably hopes his pet SCOTUS justices will hear it he loses the first appeal, which means many months.

. Capitol Police Officers* and I think some D.C. cops as well are suing the Donald for
1/6/21 too. Putin or MBS or ? at some point will no longer post his bonds and the RNC
and or mouth breathing MAGAs arent going to have any more money either.
Just the case of the officer who was attacked by the mob and was bear repellent sprayed
and then died will be $100 million + in civil penalties and that doesnt count lawyers* fees
and court costs.
*. And he will have to pay the other sides legal fees too.
I look for him to flee at some point from both the civil and criminal charges.

(53,971 posts)what with all the court cases and back and forth to court, trying to campaign, Melania hating his ass and not letting him get in that car with her, and you know she's not letting him in her bed.
And the time it takes to do that hair everyday, and put on the diaper. He's got to be about to blow.
Here's hoping he strokes out before he has a chance to flee.

were not diagnosed with the disease, and at least a million who died from other factors
but didnt get the needed medical care because the doctors and what not were tied up
with COVID cases.
Trump was well aware of C-19 in 2019 because that was when and Kush-turd invested
in hydroxchloroquine and their own covid testing method neither which worked.

This is the one issue the media have neglected to discuss: just how much of a flight risk he is. Not only have all the chickens come home to roost, but they're very large chickens too.

The portion of the judgment against Trump personally in the
@NewYorkStateAG
action is $243,326,767.10 + $147,249,741.98 + $63,589,273.97, which adds up to $454,156,783.05.
The two
@ejeancarroll
judgments are for $5,000,000 and $83,300,000, for a total of $88,300,000.
Accordingly, the three judgments total $542,456,783.05.
Regardless of whether he posts bonds on these judgments, statutory post-judgment interest of 9% per annum (simple interest, not compounded) accrues until the judgments are paid. Thats $542,456,783.05 x 0.09, or $48,821,110.47 a year.
Divide that by 365, and you get $133,756.47 per day.
Divide that amount by 24 and you get $5,573.19 every hour.
Divide that by 60 and you have $92.89 a minute.
Finally, divide again by 60 and the result is $1.55 a second.
Apologies for the mistake; I should have been more careful before blurting a number out on TV. Thank God I am not an accountant.

It's not like the four other trials that haven't happened yet. Even if trump somehow wins the election, he can't nullify the ruling that NY AG James won as it's a state, not federal ruling.
The only way trump can nullify it is to install a fascit dictatorship, which he wants to, but it ain't happening.
