Another Republican resigning from the House

https://www.politico.com/live-updates/2024/03/22/congress/gallagher-leaving-early-00148586

Speaker Mike Johnson is about to drop to a one-vote majority, as retiring Rep. Mike Gallagher has decided he will exit the House as soon as next month, according to two people with knowledge of the matter.

The Wisconsin Republican announced earlier this year that he would not seek reelection, which came on the heels of receiving blowback for voting against impeaching Homeland Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. His allies, however, say he was long jaded by the antics of the House following the ouster of Speaker Kevin McCarthy.

Gallagher’s office did not immediately return a request for comment.

The timing couldn’t be worse for Johnson, who is now potentially facing a vote on his ouster in the coming weeks. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) filed the so-called motion to vacate on Friday, over Johnson working with Democrats to pass a massive spending bill, but it’s unclear when she’ll try to force the vote on the floor.

It also further fuels conference concerns over its trajectory headed into the November election. Fewer mainstream Republicans like Gallagher means a larger share of GOP hardliners are more empowered to take on their own party.

The ones dirty enough to be bribed but honest enough to stay bribed.. are already bribed.

The true MAGA are not sane enough to be bribable for more than 15 minutes. Hard to remember who you owe when you are foaming at the mouth.

And the rest are like Clarence. They know they can parlay a bribe offer into even better bribes from their side, and they are well familiar with the IOKIYAAR phenomena prevalent in law enforcement, media and ethics, which means its safer to stick with the corrupt they know.

is guarantee that nothing will get done in the House until the idiot republiCANTs get around to electing a new Speaker.
No aid to Ukraine or Israel, no border protection package, nothing until these morons (I know, I'm giving morons a bad name there) decide on a new Speaker. Look how long it took to settle on Johnson. It'll take twice as long this time.
I'm sure Empty G did this under orders from Trump or someone close to him.

Stall, stall, stall. It works for Trump's legal cases, It'll work in this do-nothing republican led House. And they'll blame Democrats because they're assholes.

In the grand design, how can Satan be any worse than YHWH? Guess which one has a body count of ten, and which one has killed millions?

I'd wait for you to realize which is which, but it's easier to supply the answer here:

The last remaining sane Republicans in the House are living under daily threats in this Hell — because that’s how MAGAts roll.

It may well have occurred to them, as it just has to me, that the only thing left for them to do is refuse MAGA the majority. If they were to change parties while in office, a favorite fantasy here, the vengeance from MAGA-world would be swift and brutal on them and their families.

I therefore find the timing viv a vis new elections in their respective districts particularly interesting.
