Maybe he should start a podcast about it. I hear men are really underrepresented in that space

He apparently has no problem with preachy males "dominating" the party.

(43,408 posts)President Bidens bleeding support from key voters. In an interview published Saturday with New York Times opinion columnist Maureen Dowd, Carville voiced concerns about the culture of the Democratic Party and how it could be impacting Bidens support among voters, especially those that are male.
A suspicion of mine is that there are too many preachy females
Dont drink beer, dont watch football, dont eat hamburgers, this is not good for you,' he said. The message is too feminine: Everything youre doing is destroying the planet. Youve got to eat your peas.' Carville, who was a strategist for former President Clintons 1992 presidential campaign, argued this culture and rhetoric is not addressing the concerns of male voters.
If you listen to Democratic elites NPR is my go-to place for that the whole talk is about how women, and women of color, are going to decide this election. Im like: Well, 48 percent of the people that vote are males. Do you mind if they have some consideration? Carville said.
When it comes to Bidens low approval ratings, Carville quipped, When I look at these polling numbers, its like walking in on your grandma naked. You cant get the image out of your mind.

(23,322 posts)It was sexist. Carville should either clarify, apologize or both. He may have helped Clinton back in the day but from what Ive seen and heard from him recently is often out of touch and borderline ridiculous.

(2,993 posts)Triangulation and pandering to the right made some sense in the politics of the 1990's - memories of Reagan were still fresh, and there was hope that the toddlers that had taken control of the House could be spoken to like adults.
We don't live in that world anymore. Gingrich and his co-conspirators were reluctant to compromise, but red-hatters are a whole 'nother level of bubble dweller. I don't think Carville completely gets that.

(32 posts)Im gonna be 57. I worked at a restaurant/bar connected to the Rife Center in downtown Columbus-circa 1993/1994. The R operatives were all wearing the Rush sponsored backwards Clinton watches.. Id go toe to toe with some legislators and lobbyists at the time. I always conceded that Carville (and wife) were paid operatives and did NOT reflect the D ( her case R) electorate at the time. Nothing changes. And Ari Melber better slow JCs tv time. This older - now suburban- CLE white F voter is over the old school wink-wink games.

(368 posts)Nixon's henchman didn't like preachy women either. In 1972, Martha Mitchell, wife to then attorney general John Mitchell, was kidnapped, brutalized when she attempted an escape, and then drugged to keep her from spilling the beans about Watergate to the press. Gee, I don't know why Carville's attitude triggered that memory.

(2,218 posts)Carville has been telling us to be Republican light, ever since he turned beltway pundit, married the Republican strategist, Mary Matlin and became a living legacy of the DLC. He serves a purpose. Like Rohm Emanuel, he reminds us that we have to remain compassionate and continue evolving. He pretends to speak for Democrats, but honestly whoever he really speaks for has some serious issues.

(28,476 posts)The older he gets, the more good-ol'-boy he gets. Married a Republican. Hasn't had a successful presidential campaign since the 1990s. He's past his due date and I cringe everytime I read on DU that "Carville nails it!" I usually just try to ignore them, but I was heartened to read this headline. I'm glad others in the party are catching on that he's really not all that any more.

I keep seeing on DU a lot of people not wanting to continue reading the New York Times anymore. They say NYT has changed, so keep that in mind.
I just read the NYT interview again.
James was talking about what he sees as the typical democrat male viewpoint. He was talking from that perspective. Not necessarily from his personal viewpoint, but some general male democrat viewpoint.
James is brusque, crude, he curses
Sometimes that gets in the way of his real point.
Opinion from the new guy. Thanks
