(32,642 posts)I just saw Cassidy on Rachel's show last night, and she handled it really well. She seems to have a presence on camera, and she wasn't intimidated by Rachel. (It seemed to me anyway.)
It kind of made me think MSNBC might be grooming her to become a commentator for the R's who are also never-Trumpers. We'll see how this plays out.
ProudMNDemocrat
(16,786 posts)Though a conservative Republican, she at least has values and principles. Ronna Romney McDaniel DOES NOT.
FakeNoose
(32,642 posts)Cassidy has impressed me as someone who can stand her ground and stick with the facts. Even though I may not agree with her politics, I'll give her a listen because she presents herself well.
ProudMNDemocrat
(16,786 posts)I do NOT agree with her politics, but she gives a care for America and democratic norms. She sees TSF as a threat to all we hold dear. There can be disagreement, but not being disagreeable.

(3,642 posts)So I'm sure NBC execs are pouring over rap sheets as we speak.

(34,457 posts)If this were 20 or so years ago, I would agree that they should seek diverse perspectives (even though many other media outlets do not). But these days so few Republicans are truth seekers and truth tellers, that I dont care to hear from the rest.

(24,300 posts)had some say in the matter. I frankly would have guessed differently. I can't recall ever hearing such unity on a personnel matter and openly criticizing management on the air at a TV network.

(16,412 posts)It sounds like there was quite an uproar over her hiring all the way around!

because a couple of NBC execs thought it was a great idea to hire a MAGA coup accomplice/election denier, particularly at a time when people are turning off cable and turning on podcasts?...I'm guessing tens of thousands...
next up...Steve Bannon...
BigmanPigman
(51,608 posts)in the first place don't give a damn about anything but money. The greedy asses may have changed this last decision once the MSNBC hosts voiced their anger but they are still greedy asses and will continue to pull this crap when ever they get the opportunity. NBC is just like the rest of the media...greedy traitors. Not all viewers will not forgive and forget this action. They blew it with a significant number of viewers of both MSNBC and NBC! Fuck you, NBC!!!!!

(33,345 posts)Thanks for handing them a cudgel to beat the press with, NBC.
SleeplessinSoCal
(9,123 posts)It's an opportunity to get the message out about the integrity of the 2020 election. There is NO SUCH THING as alternate facts.
maxsolomon
(33,345 posts)Never should have hired her but ditching her quickly is the best alternative. It's naive to expect the RWNM to forego exploiting this; it furthers their narrative on the "Liberal Press".
That which does not kill, more grist for the mill.

(24,300 posts)Just not the ones who try to overthrow the government.

(13,871 posts)Otherwise, we would not have had her on air admitting that she had lied about the last election because that was part of her job as head of the RNC.

Don't make THEM angry. Don't upset THEM. We need to understand THEM. We're supposed to be the above-it-all fair-at-any-cost people, not like THEM. They can have their "cudgel" and put it where the sun don't shine.
maxsolomon
(33,345 posts)I already understand "them", as in the RW media. They need stories to distort and exaggerate to further their "don't believe your eyes" narratives and keep their targets in a haze of resentment. I've lost my McGovern-voting father to their lies.
I'm glad I can amuse you, but stupid mistakes like this aren't funny.
FakeNoose
(32,642 posts)As far as I know, none of the full-time NBC and MSNBC on-air talent had a problem with him. It's not the previous employment of the person, it's the integrity of the person. They objected to Ronna McDaniel's (lack of) integrity.

Bullshit. They were trying to pull in Liz Cheney conservatives but ultimately hired someone on the fringe of being a Q-anon member.

(7,901 posts)The reversal comes after journalists and anchors at both NBC and its cable news sibling MSNBC publicly denounced the decision to hire McDaniel as a paid analyst in a stunning and unprecedented on-air rebuke of network brass that has embarrassed the Peacock Network.
