SPICEWOOD, Texas -- SPICEWOOD, Texas (AP) Willie Nelson 's Fourth of July Picnic is two-stepping out of Texas to the Philadelphia area.
The country luminary's mostly annual mega-concert, hosted in his native Texas for most of its 50-year-history, will be held for the first time in the Northeast this July, with a bill that includes Bob Dylan and the duo of Robert Plant and Alison Krauss at Freedom Mortgage Pavilion in Camden, New Jersey.
So, my thought is:
Willie Nelson is 90 years old
Bob Dylan is 82 years old
Robert Plant is 75 years old
Alison Krauss is 52 old (just a kid)
I see a commercial for Biden with the theme "STRENGTH IN NUMBERS"
I see before and after concert short interview snippets:
Willie talking about how he's only gotten better over the years
Dylan talking about his legacy
Robert Plant talking about "still rockin' " after all these years
Allison talking about it's a privilege to be with all this experience
A quick cut in with all of them at Philadelphia's Independence Hall just right across the river. Just all being respectful in front of this historical place. Maybe a quick talk about this is where our democracy started and how great it is. Couldn't have this concert in Russia.
Back to the stage. The performers, all on stage, take a break between songs. They are all up at the front of the stage. Biden appears on stage, walks over and stands between Willie and Dylan facing the audience. They all shake hands with Biden. Dylan steps up to the microphone - he eyes the audience seeing that it's an overflowing packed house - standing room only -- and says to the audience "I really wanted to meet him." The crowd cheers. "So, how many people didn't want to see us because we're too old?" And the crowd responds by laughing really loud. Dylan has to wave the audience down to lower the volume. Dylan says "Yep. That's what I thought. Thanks for inviting us, Willie"
Biden steps up to the microphone. Lots of applause. "I'm Joe Biden and I approve this message." Gives a big thumbs up. Lots of applause and fade out.
So, that's my fantasy commercial. What do you think?

(6,635 posts)Seriously, forward this whole post to Rachel Maddow's people - maybe they can help give it legs.

(6,635 posts)But a few more I can think of are Thom Hartmann (he's a DU member) and Stephanie Miller. I watch both of their shows on FSTV (free Speech TV).
Good luck!

This is just the first draft. An idea.
Producers know how to make this stuff work from a rough idea.
But you're right. Thanks.
