That way, down the line when people have forgotten about the accident and are having a hard time getting XXXXX and the Reps blame Biden for supply chain problems, we'll know and can say who/what is actually to blame.....
For example, already on the news out of Des Moines, IA, last night, they were saying it could delay arrival of agricultural machinery.

(4,012 posts)Somehow, I don't think that's the reason the Bibles are delayed. It's Trump. Everything is either delayed or nonexistent, like the health care plan he promised us.

About three-quarters of the autos that travel through the port are imports, dominated by big-name brands, including Mazda and Mercedes-Benz. Most of the top companies have enough inventory sitting on U.S. dealer lots that any immediate impact on supply is unlikely, said Ambrose Conroy, chief executive of the consulting firm Seraph.

The port ranked second in the country for exporting coal last year, according to the state of Maryland. But its not a huge global supplier of thermal coal, and the disruption can likely be made up by replacements from Australia or Indonesia if needed, said Alexis Ellender, lead analyst at global trade intelligence company Kpler.

(35,309 posts)Lasted a long half-day. Job was simple: Go to a new car coated with some silicone glop, get in, drive it to a car wash ramp, barely getting it into 2nd gear. Get back into 1st gear on the car wash rap, get it set to go through the wash, and get out. Walk around the soapiness, get in the clean car, and drive it back to the next open spot. All stick shifts. All with 0.1 or 0.2 miles on them.
Spent hours doing that with maybe 10 others. When the thousands of cars were clean we all went home until there were enough cars to make calling us back worthwhile.
Very strange job. But the silicone or whatever was there to keep the salt water from corroding them.

(6,361 posts)The cars that were delivered to us had that stuff on all the bumpers. And plastic on all the seats. Would have been a horrible full-time job! I only had to do 10 or 12 at a time.

(33,345 posts)20% of the US' coal exports go out of Baltimore. They'll send the trains elsewhere.
IDK if the Dali Singapore was carrying cargo on the way out - I work near the Port of Seattle and the cargo ships go out riding very high.

(10,426 posts)Along the CSX railroad tracks between Baltimore and DC. Apparently the cars get offloaded at the port, put onto train cars, and carry them to this particular depot. From there, they are moved across the country. Those tracks are right behind my house, and we see car carriers all of the time.
