'Out in force': Anti-Trump Republican Liz Cheney draws 'big crowd' for Iowa speech

Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R- WY) reportedly drew a "big crowd" in Iowa on Wednesday. Cheney, a frequent critic of former president Donald Trump, recently told a story of the ex-president's "depravity" on Jan. 6 that she said should show why he must be defeated.

Trump commonly boasts about the importance of crowd sizes, including inflating his own. But Cheney did no such thing. Instead, it's outside reports and photos suggesting the large speech crowd.

Conservative Heath Mayo said, "Looks like a lot of [Principles First] folks are out in force in Iowa tonight." He linked to a video of the crowd from Kevin Cavallin, who said he was waiting to hear Cheney speak at Drake University's Bucksbaum Lecture Series in Des Moines.

Another user on X, @Kara_ahern, said, "Big crowd in Des Moines tonight to hear Liz Cheney." @SacksRosie wrote, "Full house...a lot more people in this crowd than Trump could attract...Liz Cheney always said she would make it her business that Trump would never get back into the WH..this is impressive."

I keep getting a nagging fear that Liz Cheney is gonna step into the race if Trump is convicted or jailed.

She is Dick's daughter, she plans, she is smart, and she would be tough. It worries me a bit.

5. If she can help convince others not to vote for Trump now that's good enough

for me. I’ll worry about later later. Right now looks like Trump is running. Also, the magats are so mad at Liz I don’t think she’d be a general election concern even if something did happen to Trump.

12. Yes. I would not want a Liz Cheney Presidency, but I sure as hell don't fear it like I would a Trump 2.0

And I still think Biden would defeat any last-minute replacement for Trump--whoever that would be. MAGATs would stay home seething in their resentments.

But honestly, I'm not sure the Party of Maga is ready to reembrace the Neocons. As much as 1/3 of Trump's appeal was his isolationism and opposition to pointless wars.

That it's too late for her to get on enough ballots. in a month or two it will definitely be too late.

She's also smart to not talk about her Congressional voting record
