Two of the justices who voted for the 1864 abortion law are up for re-election in Arizona.

I don't know if anyone has posted this info today, but for my fellow DUers in Arizona two of the justices who voted for the law are up for re-election in 2024.

Clint Bolock and Kathryn H. King

Please remember their names on election day!

They are up for "retention" -- which is like re-election, except that it's a "yes/no" question, rather than a "choose your candidate" question. If the voters vote "no", then the governor appoints a replacement.

And yes, both of these justices did indeed vote with the 4-2 majority to put the ban into full effect.

The only dissenters were Justices Timmer and Brutinel.

Thank god I don't live in that state anymore, what a shitshow.

...and I can think of plenty of other states that are worse shitshows.

Regardless, we are going to work to retire these two assholes.

I honestly do believe AZ is going blue at a pretty high speed, and I have nothing but goodwill for everyone still fighting the good fight. You're winning.

But the crazy is definitely still alive and well down there, and when it finally goes down it'll only go down kicking and screaming.

Not gonna lie, I don't miss it.

Justice Bolick’s wife is in the State Senate and participated in a prayer meeting the other day to pray the SC upheld the 1864 law.
Today she sent out a lengthy screed about how wrong this ruling was.
