Biden Leads Trump Among Young Voters
April 18, 2024 at 6:41 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

A new Harvard Institute of Politics poll of voters under age 30 finds Joe Biden leading Donald Trump 56% to 37% among likely voters.

Said pollster John Della Volpe: “For a Democrat to comfortably win the Electoral College, he or she needs to win 60 percent of the youth vote. Biden and Obama, ’12 and ’20, won 60 percent. Obama got 66 percent in ’08. John Kerry and Hillary Clinton got 55 percent. Biden is in the mid-50s. Can you improve that to get to 60 percent? It’s within reach.“

support to ram it though), there is no way we can effectively pin it on the Rethugs, at least in the eyes of 40yo and unders.

2. 56% is not a great number, and Netanyahu & his religio loons are trying to 'tail wag the dog' that number even lower.

This is, after all, not 40 and unders (a broader cohort who have some drop off in terms of Dem support historically), this is 18-29yos, who should be up closing in on Obama 2008 territory, or at least 2020 POTUS and 2022 Midterms levels of Dem support.

6. Yeah. This poll could be a lot worse.

It's April. Plenty of time for youth outreach. You've got to work under the assumption that any poll right now will be close to Biden's floor.

So, he's got a few months to bump that number up. It appears Trump is at his 2020 total, so I'm guessing the rest are undecided and not shifting toward Trump. That makes them winnable.
