The case just started. It's not a slam dunk -- no jury case ever is. So no reason to take a plea. Plus he will appeal any verdict and that will take years.

No plea deal would give him what he wants: total exoneration and reinstatement to the presidency.

And no prosecutor would offer one because the defendant won't agree to the prison time that HAS to be part of his sentence.
