14th district (MTG's) but now in GA 11th district (Barry Loudermilk). I worked at the booth for the Democratic Party of Gordon Co. this morning. There weren't many people around this morning but by the time my shift was over, there were loads of folks lining up for BBQ. Most of the people who stopped by were friends of the Dems, but it was easy to tell that we are outnumbered about 10 to 1 here in redneckistan. One good thing about people from this area is that they know how to cook BBQ and that usually means pork, sometimes chicken. I got a plate of smoked brisket and it was pretty good, but this ain't Texas and they don't know how to slice and serve brisket properly. At our family reunions along the Guadalupe River, the brisket was always thinly sliced and served with pickles & onions and white bread.

(9,847 posts)Our cousins and their children aren't interested in family history or carrying on with the family reunions. I had about 36 first cousins in my Dad's family and maybe even more than that in my Mom's family. Our reunions were something to behold and will warm my heart forever. Too bad that our cousins' kids won't have those fond memories.
