'Rather angry': Yelling Trump unloads after Michael Cohen testimony

Former President Donald Trump delivered one of his angriest post-trial day rants in Manhattan on Monday after his former attorney and fixer Michael Cohen — one of the most important witnesses for District Attorney Alvin Bragg — took the stand to testify about his own role in the alleged criminal scheme.

The former president has made several such speeches at the end of trial arguments, often followed immediately by crushing fact-checks that strip away his false claims — but on Monday he lost his cool more than usual. "The whole is laughing now at New York's weaponized legal system, watching this unfold," Trump thundered.

He went on to claim that the Federal Election Commission looked into the allegations and found, "There's absolutely no problem," with the payments. He then quoted a number of people sympathetic to his case, including right-leaning law professor Jonathan Turley and even Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), whom Trump quoted as saying the "objective is to keep Trump off the campaign trail, that's all they're trying to do, keep him off the campaign trail."

Trump also went after Judge Juan Merchan, once again accusing him of a conflict of interest due to his daughter's political activity — a point of contention that has previously gotten him held in contempt of court, although this time he took care not to go after Merchan's daughter directly. As he spoke, his raised his voice until he was yelling at those gathered outside the courtroom. "A rather angry defendant," remarked CNN's Jake Tapper as Trump walked away.

It was pretty clear, esp. for Trump. Not sure how Raw Story missed it.

At ~ 5:00 min. of the "after day 16" video.

I don't think he understands the meaning of the word in the context that he uses it.

If someone is conflicted, they are uncertain about some choice or action to take, e.g. "Should I have a rich, delicious piece of chocolate cake or a healthier fruit dessert?"

I think he means that the judge has a conflict of interest, but he's not saying it very well.

It's so common now for people to respond to quotes that aren't even genuine/accurate quotes.

Why did he not pardon Cohen and call it a witch hunt back then? You mean nothing wrong ever happened but you let your fixer sit in jail? I don't ever recall hearing trumpy say how innocent Cohen was. Either he let an innocent man sit in jail or he is lying. I know the truth but even from maga's side, letting an innocent man sit in jail is a piece of shit thing to do. Which is it? Was Cohen innocent or guilty? If he was guilty, grumpy is too.

First, the prosecution has to finish their direct questioning. Then the defense gets to cross examine.

Based on how things went with Stormy, I expect cross will be messy. The defense must be getting desperate by now, and they'll fling as much poo as they can, because they haven't got anything else.

I think he'll hold up, and they'll end up looking ridiculous, again. But it won't be pretty!

I think Cohen will hold his own. He has waited too long for this moment to screw it up.
He is a trained lawyer, intelligent, has been speaking on TV for years, so is disciplined.
He is going to be fine.

That said, I suppose Cohen could lose it if sufficiently pushed but that is lower probability based
on his history.

I wonder if the defense attorneys have learned anything from their Stormy mistakes in cross examination?

One the one hand they don't want to replicate that but on the other hand Trump wants them to screw Cohen over. So we will see how far up Trump's ass they are.

Yes I agree, this cross examination has the potential to get very ugly.
