Judging From Trump's Reaction, Michael Cohen's Testimony Is Crushing

Trump ended up quoting Sen. J.D. Vance about how his trial is a threat to democracy, “They view this as a scam. I think it’s a terrible thing that’s happening to democracy in this country. And uh we have a lot of them that want to come and say, just stay back and pass lots of laws to stop things like this. Uh JD Vance, what’s going on in that courtroom is a threat to democracy and we cannot have a country where we get to prosecute your political opponent instead of persuading voters.”

A man who tried to end democracy by stealing an election is claiming that democracy is in peril because he is being held accountable for alleged crimes. The ex-president went on and on reading quotes from stack of papers as if he was trying to convince himself that the American people are behind him.

Trump seems to know that he is not winning the trial. At some level, he also appears to understand that Michael Cohen’s testimony is very bad for him. Outside the courthouse, Trump was in panic mode, spending minutes throwing everything at the wall and hoping that something stuck.

Donald Trump knows that there is a sizable percentage of voters who say that they will not vote for him if the former president is convicted of a felony. Trump is trying to discredit the process in the hope of discrediting a conviction. Michael Cohen’s testimony was bad for Trump, but what even worse was the show was put on outside of the courtroom.

He did this before he became president, so how does he get immunity for this?

Even if he gets it for the stolen documents (and THAT would be total bullshit) he doesn't get immunity here, and he'll almost certainly be convicted before November. So hurray for New York, let's get this done.

I wouldn't put it past this court to convict him before Father's Day. Memorial Day is a little bit of a stretch.

You Go Boys. Bringing criminals to Justice is a threat to Democracy? And per trump maga people will pass laws to stop things like this. Stop prosecuting criminals? But what if the defendant is a democrat Donald? Flaw in your logic? Exceptions will be written into conservative Justice? Apparently Roy Cohn never taught trump that being humble and accepting responsibility makes one sound of mind and strong in spirit. Because Cohn didn’t know.

"I think it’s a terrible thing that’s happening to ME in this country." Fixed it for him. This from the guy who tried mightily to negate democracy, and the vote, by tampering with the results of the last election by any means possible. The faster this ass disappears from the public sphere and conversation, the better. So sick of his BS.

Very annoying. She kept misstating the facts of the case, like that "the check was signed in Jan 2017, and that was after the election, so it can't be about the election". The CONSPIRACY and the negotiations and agreements all took place before the election, and Stormy got the real check on Oct 28. The check this Anne Macavoy was talking about was Trump's reimbursement of Michael Cohen, not the actual crime.

She also kept insisting that because the money didn't come from campaign funds, it wasn't an election violation.
It was infuriating, and the BBC just let her go on without questioning all these wrong "facts".

And she kept insisting that Michael Cohen wasn't credible, and that the only way to support his testimony was to get Weisselberg to testify, and she never mentioned that Weisselberg has now gone to jail TWICE for lying for Trump, and that he's never told the truth about this situation. So of course he can't be allowed to testify. And anyway, Cohen's testimony is supported by all sorts of previous witnesses, including Daniels and her attorney, who were, after all, parties to the agreement.

BBC really fell down on the fact-checking there.

I googled her, and it looks like she's been giving this false analysis since the indictment, and hasn't changed no matter what's happening in the case.

The cheating accusations from the MAGAts in 2020 and 2022, and now setting them up to reject the results of 2024.

It's all "accuse your opponent of that which you yourself are guilty".

He was ready to raise a major stink about election fraud and rigging etc. But then what happened? He won by some magic and suddenly he had to shut up about rigging.

Chump goes around in 2020 talking about "rigged elections" all over again like he was the underdog and the outsider. But guess what ... he was the incumbent and he represented the government. If anything was rigged it was his own fault because it's his administration. (Of course we know it wasn't rigged, so he just made himself look like an even bigger asshole-loser by saying that.)

We are so done with him!

The huge election fraud Trump alleges couldn't have been committed by the challenger. Only an incumbent has access to all the levers that would have to be pulled to fraudulently put him back in office.

Cohen is just tying it all together and they're doing a great job of going to evidence in the middle of his testimony to support everything he has said.

Trump's defense will be that he didn't sign the papers for the shell companies. I don't know if it will work or not. I do wish Weisselberg was there to testify.

It's a strong case for sure, but it is not a slam dunk case and I think DUers need to be prepared for an acquittal even though I think a conviction is more likely than not.

There are still more trials to come. This is only one aspect of Chump's deep, decades-long crime wave. He's going to lie his ass off every time he gets in front of a TV camera.

We have so much more to look forward to, so please don't flame out on this one. We need to stay focused and it's going to be a long summer. Our final goal is to see that Chump can never run for office again. If he also goes to prison... well, that's the cherry on top of the icing on the cake.

Their voters know this.

1. They mean that black and brown people should be locked up for minor offenses because they hate them.
2. They support the police who kill minorities over minor traffic stops.
3. They assume every minority is using drugs and should be arrested. If no drugs are found, police just need to plant some.
4. Tough on crime means criminalizing reproductive healthcare and threatening women who try to exercise their rights by traveling to sane states.
5. They hate protests against their policies so they want police and National Guard to terrorize protesters and shut them down, unless the protesters happen to be white people who have a right to protest against liberal policies (like the forced birth March for Life).
6. Rich white men, like former presidents (but not former Democratic presidents) need to be excused from prosecution for any criminal behavior because their crimes aren’t really crimes since they’re rich.
