Don't let anyone tell you protests do NOT work. If not for the blackout, nothing would have changed. If not for the protests against the pipeline, Obama would have approved it.

as I've read rumors over the net, if Facebook had participated, so would have Twitter and Google (they would have actually gone black). Of course, Facebook had about 12 million reasons not to go black that day.

That's a very dramatic shift in numbers which give me heart that they do indeed sometimes hear us... we simply have to be a bit louder (or quieter as the case may be in this instance) sometimes.

Kidding, of course, but there are 111 total in the first graphic and 166 in the second. Presumably some fence-sitters decided to weigh in.
