HANNIPIE was what another announcer, Kimmer, a former Marine called hannity on their radio station in Atlanta in the 90s. Their talk programs were back to back. There is zero doubt hannipie was intended to be a pejorative.

(231 posts)He was found guilty by a jury of his peers based on facts delivered through a fair process in which he was well represented. Gloat? Why? That would be schadenfreude.
What I care about is that people get clean water in Detroit, women have control of their bodies and refugees fleeing civil unrest have a process to apply for asylum. So Im not gloating; Im relieved that the judicial system works a little bit.
And that guy worked his ass off to work against all the things I care about. Its not gloating, its a sigh of relief.

(26,227 posts)I'm not gloating. I'm relieved that the justice system worked as designed, and the jury voted their conscience. Trump is guilty as hell, and deserves to rot in prison. But I'm not gloating. I'm proud to be an American, and I'm proud of our dedication to the rule of law.

Can't we just forgive and forget?

Slow learners should watch 'Life of Brian', especially the line . . . He's Not The Messiah - He's a VERY Naughty Boy!'
The next question of course, is the sentencing.
What is an appropriate legal response as far as sentencing goes, when dealing with a 5 year old who spent the last 70 years thinking he can make up his own rules?
Lock him up in his room for 5 years, solitary confinement without diet coke and hamberders?

(11,194 posts)I am, however, pleased that Trump is finally starting to suffer some consequences for his behaviors and actions. This is a man who has been able to delay and/or get a slap on the wrist with, or without, a small penalty for his crimes. Trump has defrauded contractors, students, and taxpayers. Trump has sexually violated and harassed women. Trump has stolen US documents, defied subpoenas, and encouraged the storming the US Capitol to overturn a Presidential election. Trump might never accept responsibility, but is finally facing real consequences.

(10,192 posts)Its more like happiness and relief that tsf was not able to manipulate the system for once.
One of the MSNBC reporters, I forget which, commented that Bragg and his prosecutors were not acting at all like a team that had just won 34 convictions. They didnt grin or shake hands and congratulate each other. They packed up their papers and left.
The whole time she was describing this I was thinking Yeah just wait until they get back to the office.

(113,745 posts)It was a fair trial, everything by the book. There were no Perry Masonesque "gotchas!" from the prosecution, only a lame attempt at one by TFG's lawyer Blanche against Michael Cohen, whose only reaction was blandly admitting it was within the realm of probability.
Most of us honestly expected a mixed verdict and hoped only that the consequences would be severe enough to keep him out of office. That the jury found him guilty of all charges came as an astonishing surprise. Of course there is gloating.

(471 posts)I am thankful that the convicted felon won't be able to vote in Florida, by Florida law.
I am also thankful that he will not be able to own a firearm, also a Florida law...
Even if he doesn't go to jail, home confinement will be like being in prison, and not being able to cheat at golf because his ankle bracelet only has a 100-yard range.... it will be like prison...
Karma can be a real bitch when she decides it's time for you to get some back....
But I am not gloating.... Nope!!!... My life continues to move forward with or without this circus... His problems are not mine.... And he is getting what he deserves.... Karma!
