WTF

WTF. So Romney says that he would have the states take care of veterans. Why don't we just leave them on the battlefield to die. What I said is just as absurd. GTH you SOB. Vietnam Veteran. Send his boys over to Afghanistan and give them to the Taliban.

Send us out to fight for the nation, and then dump us on the mercy of our home state and walk away.
I am speechless..

If a veteran lives in Pennsylvania and he or she moves to Maine, I don't see why his or her level of coverage should change.

A national, unified system makes the most sense.

hey, you freaking waste of resources--it is the COUNTRY that sends our people to war, therefore (try to follow the bouncing ball, please) it the the COUNTRY that is responsible for taking care of those same vets.

of course, he is so damned rich it doesn't matter.

If it were law that the children of sitting Congressmen and Presidents, if of age, are automatically conscripted at the beginning of any long-term military engagement, we would see an end to the "war of choice".

So, yes, by all means, send his children- male or female- overseas to fight the Taliban. Give their children to them. See how they like it when it's their kids in harm's way.

I was not being serious about that. It was a way of showing how absurd the original idea of turning the vets care over to the states is. Yet the GOP has no hesitation about implementing policies that will kill thousands of vulnerable Americans if all of the policies they say they would install actually occur. One GOP governor has already removed thousands of children from Medicaide.

The code that Romney speaks is the idea that all medical care including veterans care would be vouchers to buy private health care. How many 100% disabled veterans would get any care under such a program? And I remember in my youth running into veterans selling pencils in the street or selling fake poppies to get money for veterans programs. Also remember the GOP is for allowing insurance companies the ability to refuse care for preexisting conditions or shutting off insurance once you are sick.

As a Vietnam veteran I would not defend someone like Romney or his family since he is willing to trash fellow veterans.

I try to find words and can't. How many of us have an entire family tree going back even to before the Civil War and NOT ONE MEMBER of the family EVER in the military? His first American ancestor did some fighting.....but against the federal government in some crazy LDS feud.

The rethuglicans idea of supporting the troops is putting a bumper sticker on their car.
That's as far as it goes. They never give it another thought.

What Romney proposes is actually unofficial GOP policy. They have wanted to shut down the VA for a long time. Bush wanted to outsource it to private insurers and set up a voucher system. What Mitt "Robme" has said is not new at all. It is all about their hidden agenda for veterans. When Bush was in office Walter Reed had already been partially outsourced.

The Bush plan for battlefield MASH units was to outsource medical care to private companies. So if you got wounded it would not be an Army or Navy doctor but a private contractor and a private medical center in the war zone who would make the calls. Under private contracted care "triage" would have just let veterans die rather then treat them if it was too expensive.

Under VA all veterans are supposed to have the same coverage. It is part of a federal mandate. The GOP would remove that federal mandate. Under "Robme" medical care every state would have its own system and there would be more than 50 different veterans plans. All would be vouchered and block grant money could be used elsewhere if the state decided to do so. They are already proposing doing that with unemployment insurance. I used to work in Veterans programs when at DOL. I understand the code that all these " evil bastards" are speaking.

They even support replacing the veterans retirement system with a 401K plan due at 59 1/2. Most veterans leave or have to retire long before that time.

Everyone of these candidates should be run off the stage. They are unAmerican, unpatriotic and more dangerous than the terrorists.
