It's absolute nonsense.

(91,731 posts)Thats the slur of saying Kamala or Hillary cackle by implication they become old, ugly, and users of evil magic. Not wise elders possessed of intelligence and deep understanding.
Postscript: I have friends are of the Wiccan persuasion and they call themselves witches. But all of us raised in this culture understand when the name is used as a slur.

I heard people say that they voted for Bush the Younger because they felt like they could have a beer with him. Really? What about his economic programs that would leave you with too tight of a budget to buy a beer?

(59,555 posts)Spoke of how the media image of Kerry was not the extroverted, nice man she knew. I remember the woman, Jodi Wilgoen, the NYT had covering Kerry, who is now with the Forward editor in chief, wrote he was a social loner. When that was questioned, she spoke of having spoken to 20 of his friends since college. Somehow, I would think having 20 friends in college, even more still being connected to them in his 50s, makes this a strange comment.
In contrast, Elizabeth Bumiller often sounded like a GWB groupie.
The praise the NYT gave Bush's second "spreading democracy" inaugural speech might explain that difference. Judith Miller, who spread Cheney's lies was not acting alone in furtherance of a neocon experiment.

My sister fell for the Hillary is corrupt shit in 2016.

(59,555 posts)One, Trump was FAR FAR more corrupt and serious reporters had exposed corrupt business practices. He claimed his taxes for many many years could not be revealed as they were under audit. He was also associated with corrupt people, from Roy Cohn to Roger Stone to Paul Manaford.
Two, there were no examples of corruption - even with the posting of all her emails and the earlier, Chelsea Manning leak of State Dept cables when she was SoS. Her life for decades was an open book.

(22,780 posts)That's it.
I make this simple because in over 50 years of voting I always vote for the Democratic candidate in every general election.
Here in Wisconsin in '16, Jill Stein of the Green Party received more votes that Trump's margin of victory and overwhelmingly most of those votes came from Democrats and the Left, not Republicans. How did this help to elect Hillary Clinton? Clearly, it didn't. The same goes for choosing not to vote at all.
Sadly, this year it is very likely that there will be Democrats and those on the left will do the thing. Don't we ever learn?

(10,654 posts)I remember when working class Americans voted their pocketbooks; economic self interest was more important than how voters felt emotionally about a candidate. There was a time when big city newspapers in the industrial states all had Labor Sections and those in the agricultural heartland carried Farm Reports, covering policy issues in detail that affected their working class readers. Those days are long gone.
Voters focused on granular policy issues because they were exposed to them, and were made aware that such things affected them. Now it's all about Hunter's dick pics, Trump's porn star payoffs or some other inconsequential bullshit. Voters gravitate towards personality because that's what they're being offered by corporate media.

Of course those of us who really know Trump are aware he's a whiney man-child who inherited his wealth. But a lie is an easy thing to believe if it's what you want to hear.
Joe Biden is competent and that's all I need.

(145 posts)Back in 2016, these folks came to my house and said that to my face. I was aghast. This was a Trump talking point being parroted by Bernie Sanders supporters. I said "But, you'll vote for Hillary if she gets the nomination, right?" The answer was "No. It's time for the wealthy to pay their fair share of taxes and she doesn't support our vision." That's the first time I realized there was something seriously wrong going on within the Party. The willingness to throw an election because you aren't going to get every damn thing you want appears to be an exclusively Democratic trait. Republicans are a lot of horrible things. But, at least they know when to fall in line.

(1,789 posts)Now I know that will bother people who don't think a vote is worth a kopeck.
BUT those damned votes are why a million or so Americans died across many wars thinking they were defending our democracy.
Please don't blame voters for voting their choice. It REALLY -IS- THEIR CHOICE. Even though we may hate that choice on DU.
Blame assholes like corporate loving political advisors such as republican wife loving, James Carville who can't come up with popular issues to campaign on that garner the votes that guarantee a win.
I really find blaming voters exercising their legal choice for political losses tiresome. That's just bullsh*t identity politics, begging for loyalty, that regularly, but certainly not always, means nothing to the pols.
VOTERS NEED TO BLAME THE RIGHT PEOPLE AND HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE WHEN THIER CAMPAIGNS GO UP THE WRONG CUL DE SAC.
